Alright guys and gals. The voting booth is closed and the results are in!
First off, I have said this many times already but I am going to say again how ecstatic I was for the amount of participation both in the entries as well as people voting. For those who don't mess with video editing, doing these types of montages take an incredible amount of time and effort to put together. Not just putting together but sifting through game plays and messing with theater mode takes a LOT of time so my hats off to Andy, Criptic, Indy, Nuke, Pogo, Rabbit and Whizz for doing an AWESOME job with all of your videos.
The voting structure is as followed:
1st place votes = 3 points each 2nd place votes = 2 points each 3rd place votes =1 point each
Top 3 places are determined by the total amount of votes from all three 1st, 2nd & 3rd place voting threads.
Here are the videos again from everyone's own channel. If you are a YouTube member I encourage you to subscribe to everyone's channel (Pogo send me your link, your video is still hosted on my channel! )

2nd off, Whizz gets 1st place for the largest video file which maxed out my Dropbox with his 1.3gb monster! That thing took me 45 minutes to upload a 2 minute video! LOL (probably a trojan packed into it! )
I think this went pretty well but I would really like to hear feedback on what we could do next time to improve it?
I was also thinking that we could take one preselected gameplay (1 for each console) that everyone would have to work off from. It would have to be obtained from one person's COD TV file share.

Congrats again to everyone who entered. They were all awesome and I've tried to do a few in the past, so I know how crazy hard and time consuming it is to make these. Slam, great idea to do this and organize it. Big props to you too.
For the next one contest, some ideas: 1) Like you said, limit to one game, or a few games that everyone has to come up with a montage from. 2) Themed montages: Quick scoping, Fails, Long Distance Kills, Multi-Kills, Equipment Kills, etc. 3) For voting, maybe some guidelines on what we are voting for: transitions, matching music to the clip, or just our favorites?
Again, great work everyone and I look forward to the next one!

All the work everyone put in and instead of acknowledging it, Black bitches about the spreadsheet that the results are in because they're not in descending order of placement.
There were 8 entries...figure it out.....(where's the retard emoticon?)

I thought this was really cool. I wish had the time and skills. I was actually in three videos, which is hard to believe considering only Pogo and Rabbit are on PS3.
Considerations for next time. # Hard line for time limit. # Divisions or bracket format for voting. # Non game play, some kind of silly scene, someone here has a bar scene in the club on Plaza (Slam?) # Like Wally said, themes, knife kills, EMP granades etc....

This was a fun project to do. I learned a lot about After Effects while working on the video and realized that I barely touched the surface of what it is capable of doing.
Possibilities for future: (some of these have been mentioned previously) * Have everyone work from the same original game play videos * Themes similar to BlackDeath's Bouncing Betty video from MW3 * Everyone use the same basic music, additional sound bytes are optional to the creator.
Is it possible to create a Youtube Channel for 30's to use to post potential clips for people to use for montages?

That's a good idea too Indy, kinda like a "whose line is it" with a community toy chest that everyone haves to pull from.
We could make a YT channel and have someone moderate it and control the PW to upload OR a Dropbox folder like I did with this comp where everyone uploaded their vid then its up to the channel mod to upload it to YT
Great ideas from everyone!

I just want to add that they were all a lot of fun to watch and the effort was appreciated.
The only suggestion I would make is to make more videos and get some exposure so that you can all get some of them YouTube monies. I don't know what, exactly, you can use those for but, from what I've read on the forums, there was a lot of talk about vasectomies; so I bet you can use the Tube monies to be impotent!

Somehow I figured the looney tunes one was Slam's, only makes sense. I wish I had more time to work on mine, had great ideas just not enough time to implement them. Everyone did a fantastic job!!

Nuke and I both used Sony Vegas Pro and I also used a lot of Gimp. The capabilities of Vegas is mind boggling. Especially when you obtain this program, open it up and say "ok now what?" Not knowing a single thing about it. Thank god for YouTube tutorials and slow days at work!
Nuke and I would chat over Google Talk and bounce ideas off each other during the day. He actually gets credit for the Looney Toones idea.
There was a lot of little things in my vid that some might not pick up on that was a lot of trial and error. For instance the transition between Hydro and Uplink through the window probably took 4-5 hours for a 1 second transition. I literally took every frame and cut out the window to make it a transparent background for the Uplink video behind it to be visible. That and all the time in theater.
In the end I had 35 video tracks and around 150 individual files to make a 2 min. vid. I'm not sure how many hours I had in putting mine together but what ever it was my employer would not be happy.

I'm sure there is probably an easier way to do it but here is what I used:
I used BO2 theater mode to create some clips and uploaded them to YouTube. I also used some clips from other 30's already on YouTube. To get the clips on the computer from YouTube I used a YouTube Video Downloader.
I used Audacity for all the audio editing.
I tried to use Windows Movie Maker at first, but couldn't figure out how to make it do some of editing I wanted so I ended up using Adobe After Effects for all the video editing.

I use Apple Final Cut Pro X. I was anxious to get started, so pretty much all of my clips were from one night of gaming with 30's the day the contest was announced. I use the highlight reel feature in CODtv to help me identify top moments from the games. I generate clips using a 3 star minimum filter. I cut it down to what I want to use and then record the clips using my elgato recorder onto my mac.
I focus a lot on matching the action in the clips to the music. I didn't do a great job with it in this one, but there were a couple moments were it came through well.
I'm still new to final cut, so future videos will delve more into the graphic and transition effects.
One side note, I don't think anyone brought it up. Slam and I used the exact same effect with the exact same clip in our videos. Bluehound had a great double kill with his sniper rifle. Both Slam and I created a first person pathing of the bullet with the second kill. Neither of us planned this. As soon as I submitted my video Slam was cracking up and sent me a link to his so I could see he had it too. Pretty funny coincidence.

LOL That was really ironic. I had to send you my clip right away otherwise you would have thought "That asshole copied my clip!!!" LOL.
Me and someone else also used Blackhawxx's back to back shotty double kill too. Great minds think alike!

First off, congrats to everyone who participated. I loved watching all the videos and they were all great. I saw something in every video that i will definitely use in the future I hope you guys had as much fun putting these together as I did. This was an opportunity to try out a bunch of stuff i normally wouldn't do. My finished product turned out to be my 4th idea I had for this

I used theater, El Gato game capture, Vegas Pro 12 w/ BorisFX & twixtor plug-ins. Like Slam said, thank God for Youtube tutorials. I spent hours watching those things then recreating exactly what they were doing, scrapping it then applying the same process to my footage.
After scrapping my original ideas for the video, I spent most of my time in theater trying to get the camera angles right. I would record a few then put them in the video and realize that I needed camera 8 & 9 to be angled different to capture something specific within the music. So I would have to go back and do the clip all over again & repeat the process.
Slam & BlackDeath were big helps in this process. They give CavemanNuke tips BD suggested the darker & dirtier film grain & Slam suggested the blurred frame to make it look more film like. For the next competition I suggest we all share a copy.com folder and connect through google hangouts or groupme to bounce ideas off each other. It helps tremendously by getting other eyes on a project to see what might not stand out to me or just tips in general.
Funny you guys mention same clips. I ripped Slam's collat for the final shot in my video and when I put it together i sent it over to show him I was using it. He sent me back a screen cap of him working on the exact same shot lol. It was awesome to see when the videos go up to see the start of Criptic's vid. I thought....wow....we are doing the same thing, yet completely different.

I don't know, unless there were 10 minutes+ of clips that can be used rather than just enough for the 3 minute time limit than I think that it would show off more of your technical know-how rather than creative ability.
By the way whizzups, I thought you did an excellent job at making your footage follow the beat and that was something that I really liked and stood out about yours. I'm looking forward to seeing more of all of the participant's work, even if Slam steals it all.
