| Lots of things to see in the Bay Area. Alacatraz is definitely a fun trip. You get to take a boat out to the island and that's pretty neat in and of itself. If you do that, make sure to get tickets online ahead of time. They do sell out at times.
Otherwise, it depends on how much time you have, what sorts of things do you like to do, etc. | |

| Not from the area, but have had a couple of good trips there. - Alcatraz Island is a must. - San Fran bridge is cool. Don't miss out on taking the path next to it which snakes though some beautiful landscape and down to the old Fort Point for a unique view of the bridge(they shot part of Vertigo near it) If you do walk on the bridge at least go halfway across. - The Coit Tower is pretty neat, has some amazing views and is cheap to go up. - The Mrs. and I like to walk...if you're up for a hike you can take a public bus to to the Seacliff neighborhood (Bus 1, or 29). Walk to and check out China Beach. From there head west and find the entrance to the Lands End Trail and hike it to Cliff House. You'll get some amazing views of the bridge and the bay. Be sure to stay on the main trail. If you time it right you could grab a meal at the Cliff House Bistro (more casual and wallet friendly then the main restaurant). Then hike, or take a cab back. You could also do the reverse hike which is cool as you get closer to the bridge. Here's a helpful link and image of from the trail: http://www.everytrail.com/destination/lands-end- Oh if you got time and have do it...check out, or drive down Lombard Street. Touristy, but... Also Springtime at night there is pretty chilly. The cold/damp air from the bay can really bite. Be prepared and dress for weather and temp shifts. | |
