Mortar and MAV

So who already has the mortars of the support class? I'm 4,500 away from the MAV, and I'm looking for some spot/killing fun.

Apparently the mortar radar screen targets blink in and out, so for accuracy the MAV could work wonders.

I have mortars. They work well as a counter indirect fire asset and to pop annoying campus snipers on top of high buildings. I use it on the Tehran highway map to kill the mouthbreathing fucktards who ride the Mav to the top of the overpasses. It works well to lay a smoke screen down on the far side of an objective to keep the snipers from picking off team mates when arming macom stations in Rush. Plus once a station is armed you can keep drooping roundd on it to keep them from disarming it.

I find the mortars sound great in concept but the blast radius isn't all that big and you need a direct hit to kill someone.
Using the combination of MAV and mortar now ties up 2 players on your team to get a few measly kills when if they were both in the actual firefights (or capping / arming objectives) you would have like 10 times the amount of kills.

I can't kill anything with a mortar. MAV would help this I am sure. I have tried a few times, but unless you have people spotting this is a difficult tool to use. Maybe Bazzar on B is a great place to lob them in since then it prevents them from getting dug in too deep. Maybe there is a way to use it that works great so we can avoid what Carl describes.

I went 10-0 on Terahn Highway with motars, but the rest of the team has pretty much trapped the other team up on the hill. Other than that it's fairly difficult to get one hit kills with motars. I seem to get more vehicle disables using motars.

Dropping smoke over/around objectives is a pretty good use of them. In general, I like the concept of them, but their application is limited.

I tried the MAV in a group of randumbs and went 0-2 the entire game and got 5 spot assists. I must be doing something wrong.

Was in a match with randoms and was getting creamed by the 3 MAVs in the air and the guy in the back the mortars. Was killed 2X (at least) by the MAV. Apparently the small helicopter thing can kill a man and is nearly impossible to shoot down.

It is very hard to camp an objective when the MAV is buzzing over you and the Mortars are flying.

Is it the stinger or the javelin that shoots this thing down? I hate them.

Javelin will shoot them down, but they are very difficult to get a lock on because they are so low to the ground and agile. By the time you can get the lock on the damn MAV is trying to roadkill you. I hate the damn things too. Not the spotting aspect, but the fact it can be used to elevator to inaccesible places and can kill a person.

They could also be parachuting in after setting a beacon. I love those damn beacons...
