Sad day for me (actually a serious post by hoffy)

So my father in law just passed away. I know the stereotype is to not get along with your in-laws, but I like mine. In a way it's a good thing. He's been very sick for nearly the last year. He was suffering, and he was miserable and I'm glad he doesn't have to go on in a bed ridden state that he HATED. But he was a good man...one of the most genuinely happy people I've ever met. He owned a bar for a long time in their home town and he still has many people that remember him well from those days...I've even run into people in my city that's an hour and half away that know him.

I grew up in a house that was kind of strict and not the most loving...I learned from Jim that being a strict jerk all the time isn't the only way to run a family. I also learned that it's important to take time and enjoy the people that you love...that laughter is a great way to deal with all sorts of problems...and that it's okay for a grown man to act like a kid. He will be missed...

I am sorry that a person who gave you so much is now gone. It sounds like a good chunk of what made him so great he taught to you. I can think of no better way to honor him than to use it in your life and pass it along.

Thanks guys. I'm most sad for my kids. They really love him and used to have a blast with him doing all sorts of stuff from playing with legos, to working out in the yard...he was the kind of guy that could turn anything into fun.

Hoffy, my bro. So sorry to hear about this. When you take the lessons he taught you and pass them on to others and live them in your life, then your father in law lives on too. Give much love to Mrs. Hoffy and your kids. Hug them extra tight and let them know that your extended x30x family, the guys across the country and around the world, are thinking about them and praying for them (and you). My condolences to your family and your wife's family.

Sorry to hear about your family's loss.

I am sorry to hear that. Your family is in my family's prayers. I know what you went through since I am going through the same thing. My father in law is very sick if it not the cancer that is terminal or the heart that is only functioning at 20% it's a crap shoot on what is going to get him. He is in the hospital right now because he took a spill at home and hit his head.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your wife and family. He sounds like a great man and will be greatly missed.

My condolences on your family's loss. It's never easy losing a loved one but you said it best when you said he would no longer have to suffer in a state that he wouldn't like...no dignity. Best of luck through this difficult time.
