Work

As some of you know, or maybe do not know, I work in the hotel business. I love my job, love the people i work with and for. I also love dealing with people, although it may not seem like it at times, but i truly do. I recently helped a guest out with a bunch of paperwork and emails and other things, just thinking i was doing my best to make a guest happy. Well, i found out after helping this gentleman out for like 2 hours with his stuff, i had helped him wire the money to buy the Omaha Storm Chasers, the minor league team for the Kansas City Royals. As you also know, I LOVE BASEBALL. well, this guest and i kind of created a bond, friendship if you will. I was in KC the other day and my wife texted me that the Assistant GM of the Chasers was leaving, so I, as i felt in my heart i should do, was to email the new owner and ask about the position...That being said, i have an interview next week for the position! I am not saying i am going to get this job, maybe he is doing it out of a favor, but his personal assistant told me he spoke and thought very highly of me, maybe thats a great thing. I have a job that will lead me to where i want to be in the hotel business, but i may have a job that will lead me to where i have always dreamed of being, working in professional baseball.

I will keep you posted, send good vibes this way, if you pray, throw a lil prayer in there for me if you can...

A good luck, a prayer, and a +1 to you for showing that doing more than is required can net you something, even if you don't intend it to. Hard work and doing something to assist your fellow man gives a rewarding feeling; getting the dream job would be a just reward!

I'm happy for you Blair. I remember last year when you were contemplating taking the job you have now and it sounds like you made the right decision! Good luck with the interview, and be sure to ask for a team hat when they ask if you have any questions for them.

I have an ex-gf who went to University of Florida with the dream of being an Athletic Trainer for football (pro or college) and I never thought it was attainable and low and behold, 7 years later, she is the head AT for the UF football team...

Best of luck with the interview. I was going to do some voodoo and sacrifice a chicken and read the bones for you, but a racoon killed my last chicken the other night. Instead I will go to KFC and eat a bucket of fried chicken in your honor and then procees to toss and read the chicken bones. Not as powerful of voodoo, but it should still send some good vibes your way, brother. Congrats and getting the interview. Its not what you know, it who you know that advances you thru life.

Rif, I work closely with the Phillies AAA affiliate and if the position you are interviewing for is like the position of AVP here, I think you'll nail it. Minor league baseball is all about promotion and it requires someone who is very passionate about baseball (you) and someone who understands how to deliver entertainment value to the fans (also you).

If you need any examples of successful promotions done here with the team, PM me...I can also give you some good insight on how to deal with local media vendors if needed.

I know its not in the bag, its just an interview, but this guy knows how much i love the game, and he actually told me about a month ago he was amazed at how much i know and he commented on my passion for the game. We will see what happens, if its not here, he does own a couple of other teams so maybe this is my foot in the right door...
