I use a Hauppage 1212. It not suppose to have any latency when running through the PVR but I always had my doubts. With this setup, my consoles go direct to the TV via HDMI and the PVR is separate so there's no lag.

Nice Setup. What is roughly the total price you paid?
Also, you shouldnt lie. We all know you use the turbo on the controller adapter you HACK.

Do you really want to know?
NOT including the Xbox, PS3, Astros, Scuff, Laptop or games:
6 year old sprinting through room and tripping on cords and dragging the PVR onto the floor?
Priceless!

you can alleviate moving the astro usb power plug to / from consoles by getting a usb / ac adapter - few bucks on amazon
also if you want a pvr setup for 1/4 the price of slam's look at the thread in my sig
im using the avermedia hd pvr it has two modes 1) with on screen display which does lag 2) realtime mode / disables osd i see no noticable lag in this mode
slam i cant believe you bought an optical switch you are made of money apparently
edit: jesus christ I can't believe you bought a xcm LAAAAAAAAAME

Well I got Astro's today and found that if you use the stream port on the mixamp with the 3.5 to av then av cables to my mixer it captures voice and game sound.
Technically with this being the case I am wondering if the mixer could be eliminated and go straight to my PVR well I will soon be testing and let you know lol.

Confirmed the new mixamp does have a stream port that outputs voice and anything you can hear in your headset. Eliminating the need for a mixer.

Yeah that was their intention with that update in design. How do you like them aside from that new mixamp feature? How do they sound? Mic, etc?

They sound awesome. The voice quality is amazing compared to the x11's I was using. They are so comfortable on my head also. I am loving them. The only thing I am not sure of is they don't seem to be able to be turned up as loud as other headsets I have had but that may be something with my settings somewhere. I will do a Dead Space 3 co op recording later today and upload it. You will hear exactly what comes through the headset and voice quality.

I have mine cranked up too. Make sure in your Xbox settings it's set to dolby 5.1. Also know there are two mics, the boom mic and one on cable. Make sure you have it set to the boom mic

So I was reviewing this thread again, but I have one for you guys to ponder. I totally understand the concept of using the mixers and stuff, but I have a set of TB Tangos which are completely wireless. The ONLY cable on this thing is the optic cable going from the XBox to the RF transmitter. There's not even one going to the controller, it's a Bluetooth device. Sooo, obviously I have no wires to tap into. Now there is an optic out on the transmitter, but I don't know if it sends ALL the audio out, mainly my voice chat. If it did send all the sound out, am I right in thinking that I could get whatever I needed to get that into a RCA cable then I could plug that into the PVR audio in? My only other option right now is to connect the bluetooth to my laptop and have it record my voice, then manually mix that into the video.

I'm willing to bet the only audio coming out of the transmitter is party chat and game sound, not your mic. What PVR do you have? It may have an optic cable input. I'd give it a shot anyways.
Otherwise yes, you probably would have to mix your mic audio into the video. Not a huge deal but an extra step.

Ahh it does have an optic in, have to try that, but I'm with you, I suspect it's just game audio.

Optic doesn't work. Tried it myself.
Use the optional cable from the headset to the controller. I had the px500 wireless set and used a 2.5 splitter at the headset and then the cable from the splitter to controller then a 2.5 male to 3.5 female adapter then 3.5 male to male cable to mixer.
This video is the same theory just different adapters he uses.

Yeah as he said optic cable doesn't do anything...forgot about the jack in the headset since I don't use it, if I ever decide to invest this is the way to go, thanks!
