PostSubject: Help With a Surfboard Modem   Tue Jul 31, 2012 1:26 pm

I have a Motorola Surfboard SBG941. It reboots itself constantly.. usually every 20-30 minutes. I have reset the modem to factory settings, and I've isolated the problem to the modem itself by putting my LAN on the modem/gateway, bypassing my router altogether. Still, the same problem. I have tried disabling UPnP, without effect. I switched my PS3's IP to dynamic, without effect. My NAP is Open (PS3's IP is DMZ). I've tried it without the DMZ (obviously, by having IP as dynamic) and still.. I know that there are some very smart ppl on this forum so I thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas. Thx in advance.

Thanks. That's what I ended up having to do, too. I guess Surfboards just do that after a while. Oh well, at least I got the 2 year warranty. It will probably start rebooting itself right after the warranty runs out and I'll end up taking a sledge to it.

Take a look where the coax comes into your home. If there isn't a grounding block there then any surge could have flaked it out.
