| I'm probably going to be moving my Xbox to my office/"new gaming room" to get out of the main living area. So I'll be shopping for a TV. But I was wondering a little about resolution.
Should I save the money and go with a 720 instead of a 1080? We don't have the bandwidth to do netflix or any streaming, so it would be gaming only at this point. I guess the new xbox might be able to play BR so we could possibly watch movies on it that way, but unlikely.
Anybody have any brands/models they would highly recommend? For a gaming only TV I'd like to keep it cheaper. Maybe someday it will double as a huge computer monitor. Probablly want to stay around the 32" range.
What about input lag? | |

Known as the evo monitor, popular for gaming tournaments. Inexpensive, low input lag, 1080p, HDMI input, etc. crap sound but I don't care as I use a headset. I also use this. No need for 1080p as xbox native resolution is 720p when run in 1080p the xbox has to process more to produce the 1080p which can cause lag with what you are seeing on the screen. Make sure to get something with game mode to cut out all the post processing that tv/monitors do. | |

| Those Asus monitors would probably work great. The only thing stopping me on them is the lack of optical audio output. I have the OLD xbox that doesn't have the optical output. I'm sure the next generation will, so I should probably look to buy the screen for the next generation consoles. I'm not going to like nerfing my TB x42 headset that I just got by having to use the headphone jack. But I guess its probably only going to be for a few more months before they release the next gen consoles.
Right now I play on a 55" Sony in the main living area, and before I had kids I'd crank up the surround sound and shake the floor. Now playing late after bedtime I have to use the headphones, so I might as well use a smaller screen and sit closer.
I have an extra 22" LED TV that was a former computer monitor, so I might just have to use that until this fall/winter when I know what the next gen consoles will do.
I like the input lag #'s for the monitors, but I don't like their lack of variety when it comes to I/O ports. I guess I do like the versatility of a TV after all compared to a straight up monitor. But they'll cost me a little more.
Went into a store today and saw one of these, it might be a possiblity:
Toshiba 32L2300U 32" Class 720P LED TV
