Subject: Help Me Choose an Intro Please Tue May 28, 2013 11:48 pm
I am making a new youtube channel for my videos because my old channel I could not change the link and I am not big enough for a vanity url. I am going to try and be more active with it and hopefully get some good content coming out for it. Here are some of the Intros I have chosen and will go with which ever one you guys like best.
Ok you guys narrowed it down. Now please choose version 1 or 2 of the transforming text.

For some annoying reason, only one of the videos will load at a time, I had to refresh the page a million times to get to see all 5...
Vote in.

I like 2 the best. Shorter is better, but I like how it looks anyways. Although I think it's kind of similar to Slams?

2 is my fav because the text has texture to it. I like the others but the main thing that sets them apart (to me) is the texturing of the text vs it just looking like a plain simple font. 2 gets my vote.

2 Hands down. I dont think it's that similar to mine. 1 would be my second choice if it was 4-5 seconds shorter.

I like 2 with the mechanical text assembly and mechanical 'outro'. If any similarity to Slam's can be considered consistency within the clan. Vote cast for 2.
4 is a far 2nd. Like the visual sparking intro/outro, but text is plain and 'sparky sound' is too long.
One a side not, I like the music in your previous intro.

What he said. #2 gets my vote. Just needs a second or 2 to finish the animation and fade into the video you attach. Good stuff sir.

Already voted above, but an idea I had when I was (almost) going to start uploading edited PVR'd vids but don't even know if it's possible...
What program do you use to make your intros, and do videos support Alpha (transparency) channel? If so, is there a way of creating an intro that "transitions" into the clip by using transparent areas of the intro? I think this needs an example idea...
Dumbest Example ever (but should illustrate the point): Imagine you're looking at a closed door on a plain wall. The door opens (you can see the video through the doorway) and the "viewer" walks through the door, completing the transition to the full video.

Seriously? Those intros are built off of Vegas pre-packaged text objects & transitions?

Mine are made from Adobe After Effects. Just playing around with it trying to figure it out at this point. Yes they are free templates that I have found on the web and edited to my liking. I wish I had the skills to make something like this but I am a total noob with Vegas and after effects. Sony Vegas has transition effects that can be used although I don't know how to use them yet.

BTW Arcanix most of the extra fancy effects do not come pre packaged with Vegas - many of them are add ons like http://newbluefx.com/
like the ice mist that falls down in my intro - is from newbluefx

I've hooked up with Vegas, Premiere and After Effects and was almost certain that After Effects could do it, but hadn't played around with vegas much more than for simple editing/timelining of clips...
I need to spend more time in the tools to see if alpha-channel videos are feasible...
As for the two new clips, now I'm torn.... Are you open to creative input/tweaking, or just a vote?

I have recycled a video until I record some more content and made a short intro. I will do a better one but I redid my comp and don't have any gameplays now.
Please sub my new channel as I will be abandoning the old one.

I go with #1.
Arcanix, you can definitely create one of your own, or you can just piggyback off of someone else's skill. There are a lot of free templates out there that you can download and customize to your liking. You just have to tweak what you want and sub the creator and credit them.

Well the first one screams "I like Transformers!" while the other one implies " I fucking love Transformers but thought the third one was a far superior movie!!"

ahh, good to know! Thanks, Nuke & BD. I'll have to check into those tools...
Cool stuff about feedback. Although I'll sound very direct in my feedback, I really like #2, and feel just a bit of polish will take it to simply awesome. Please don't take any offence to my suggestions below (or TL:DR them... LOL!); you're more than welcome to tell me where to stuff'em!
1) The speed at which the name constructs is perfect, but feel it's just a little too long, maybe if you're able to reduce the total number of 'chunks' that need to form together; same formation speed, slightly less pieces... feeling maybe 15%-20% reduction in time to construct the name will create a better 'flow'.
2) Not sure which of these will work better, but either: i) The time that the completed name hangs on the screen is also just slightly too long. - OR - ii) The 'backglow' that fades up behind the name once it settles into position is too quick. A softer fade-in of the white glow, or a slight reduction in the 'hang-time' before the 'spin transition out' might have a better flow.
3) Is there anyway to separate the starfield from the name during the forward 'spin transition out' so that the starfield does not spin?
4) This is probably the most important (and also likely the easiest): The ending (especially with the 'fly at you' effect) might benefit from a fade-to-full-white and then fade back out from white (the 'flashback' effect?) out overtop of the video it's been attached to, completely smoothing the transition from intro to clip. Total fade-in-out might only be 15-20 frames (or even less); it's gotta be quick to get that 'flash' effect, rather than the slower fade-to-white effect which just looks hokey... (trust me, this works; I've used it in my incomplete vid and the effect looks pretty cool... In my case, the flash is REALLY quick; 3 frames up to white, 2 frames back to footage... Maybe I should upload my incomplete work... It's only missing about 20-30 seconds of footage... )
Back on track; I'm trying to accomplish two things with my suggestions: 1) Set the pace of the intro more inline with the type of footage that it will be paired with; fast, intense action. The intro shouldn't feel 'sluggish'. 2) Completely smooth the transition between intro and clip; IMHO, anytime I can tell that an intro has just been 'glued' onto the clip, I can't help but feel "that could've been smoother".
Again, incase it was missed at the top of the post, these are simply my ideas/suggestions; Please don't take any offence to my suggestions; you're more than welcome to tell me where to stuff'em!

I don't take offense I just wish I had the knowledge to accomplish some of your suggestions lol. I open adobe after effects and am like ohhh ahhh look at all the pretty buttons. I am getting there though. I really want to accomplish making my own unique intro in the long run. For now playing with these to learn somethings about the program is about all I can manage lol.

I like #1.
If you're still open to suggestions, have a look at video hive .net some pretty sick intros there, cheap as chips too.
