For those who haven't uploaded clips with music before, you will need to ensure the music is copyright-free. Using copyrighted music will get your video pulled and flagged. Finding great music is the hardest part for me. Search YouTube and Google for non-copyright or royalty free music to find downloads you can use in your editor.

had a 'Matched Content' link beside it due to a track I used. The action (block, track or monetize) depends on what the copyright owner selects for the track.
I use copyrighted music for everything and have had no issues. I do not monetize videos. At one time Youtube had a built in editor (still might) that had a bunch of royalty free music

Yeah, I use copy written music all the time. YT will usually automatically flag it and link it to the artist. I'm usually not too concerned if they saw I had 20 views on something with a song I didnt have rights too LOL

Yeah it's just certain bands and publishers that give you issues. I had one of mine that said it was banned in Germany, I really felt bad for all my fans overseas.....

1) you cannot have a video "monetized" unless you are the sole owner of all the content 2) as long as the video is NOT monetized all you need to do is acknowledge the copyright claim (which typically is sent to you within minutes or hours of posting said video) YT will leave you alone. This places ads in or around the video and adds the link to either amazon or itunes wherever that material is typically sold. It MAY also forbid the video to be shown via mobile device or in particular countries. For example I did a video with an edited / hacked up Marilyn Manson song (that I edited myself) but it was still flagged and when I acknowledged it - was then banned from Germany LOL.

Had a thought, do we want to split this up into two competitions? One for those with editing software and one for those using theater/You Tube? I don't want anyone to feel at a disadvantage against those with access to more features.

OK, thinking about this a bit more - considering the number of contestants (which I'm guessing will be more than what are currently listed) and to get a better 'evaluation' across the board, what about this.
A gold/silver/bronze type thing, where each person voting in the thread has 3 votes to cast 1st/2nd/3rd.
1st votes are worth 3 points. 2nd votes are worth 2 points. 3rd votes are worth 1 point.
The points in the thread will be tallied at the voting deadline. The videos with the most 'points' receives gold. Video with 2nd most points receives silver. Video with 3rd most points receives bronze.
This way we can get a more distributed spread instead of a lopsided voting spread.
(for a blind vote, it may be possible to do on a separate website, but then random votes may be hard to regulate on another site.. i.e. Slam could pump up his votes with multiple random logins!)

I was thinking no forum poll. Just one regular thread, the vids at the start of the thread. Every post in the thread would be a vote:
User Bombsaway post: Vid #3: 1st (3pt) Vid #5: 2nd (2pt) Vid #6: 3rd (1pt)
User Handjobsallday post: Vid #3: 1st (3pt) Vid #2: 2nd (2pt) Vid #5: 3rd (1pt)
At the end of the thread the *point* tallies for each video are added up and reported out. It's a bit of manual effort at the end but I'll volunteer to tally up - or at least independent doublecheck.
