PS4 & XBox1 Likes/Dislikes from Current Owners

Now that the PS4 and XBox One have been out for a little while, I am curious what everyone that currently owns a new system think about it. Are there any surprises you have run into on how well it does or doesn't do something?

(If you don't own a new system please don't comment about how horrible or great it is, it would be nice if this didn't turn into another FanBoy thread and remained an informative thread for those considering buying a new system.)

I have the Xbone. I am actually a big fan. There are quite a few bugs though. The biggest being 'Installing Games'. It takes forever unless you disconnect the internet while insalling, reboot it, and then let it install fast... THEN, you can connect internet. That is really annoying. OR, If you turn it off the wrong way (I have a Logitech Universal Remote that turns off the receiver first if I hit the OFF button, I just havent programmed it correctly yet) then it will not turn back on the next time you say "Sexbox On!"

But the voice commands get better the more you use them, so now mine is working well with everything I say without having to repeat myself.

I think the Netflix app could use some work, it is not as intuitive as it should be. I also use my LUR to run the cable box instead of commands on the xbox, since there is a delay when speaking, except if I just have to say "Watch ESPN" (really, I am usually saying "Watch Disney Junior"... who am I kidding?)

The problem with the PS4 and Xbone (since I am about to go buy a PS4, but am discouraged) is the launch games. They just are not that good. Dead Rising is boring, I do not play racing games. Its just irritating. But, one must be patient.

Xbox 1 Dislikes

- No Voice messages
- Turn on Party chat each time you join a party (should be on by default)
- No Join Game in progress
- While in lobby of game if you try to navigate to Friends list, or hit the wrong button, it takes forever to get back to the game screen (slow)
- No Controller Battery Warning when low
- no way to turn off Feed (i don't care when people uploaded video clips 4 mins ago)
- *No notifications when friends log on
- *Chat headsets don't work (adapter coming 2014)

Xbox 1 Likes
- Game Play much smoother
- Game Graphics amazing
- Media Center stuff amazing
- *New Controller better feel

PS4, Graphics are a lot better.  Party chat is a nice upgrade, finally.  Contoller is a good fit.

Dislikes are easier to identify.  Hardly anyone is playing.  I see guys playing there PS3 even when they have a PS4.  My Sony headset doesn't work, I hear there is a update coming for that, but still.

Invites in game, you have to go into the invite to see who it is from.  

You don't get the notification when friends log on.

I don't like the giant blue light on the back of the controller.  The controller has a speaker, but doesn't seem to be on when I play Ghosts.

Agree with Bird. The PS4 does look a lot nicer. But people are lagging on getting on to it full time or even opening the box (looks at Bee_Swarm).

Agreed on the generic "You have Received an Invite" message. Why can't you let me know who sent it? Ditto on the people coming online.

Party Chat is ok, but I guess I'm used to not having it, so it's not a big deal. Hard for in game as well, since I can't tell who's talking. Doesn't matter when we play with our regular crew as I know the voices, but when I'm with a bunch of new (at least to me) people, it can get a bit confusing.

The Menu bar is a nice change, I like that it downloads stuff in the background. Controller is great. The triggers forced me to switch to Tactical Flipped on the PS3, which give ms awesome drop shotting abilities. PS3 Kontrol Freaks fit on the controllers too! Headset issues are annoying, but will get fixed soon.

Yes the launch games are underwhelming, but the system was a "nice to have", not a "need to have", so I'm happy with the purchase. Can't wait for you Christmas people to get yours and we rock it all the time.

agree with bird, on most they need to work on headsetts but my sony elite.s do work !
big fan very few issues with the ps4 ! controller best ever used my opionion I use it on ps3 & ps4 and pc !

i agree with vidzjunkie party chat is a pain, the whole headset thing sucks too.
i like the voice commands and setup was really easy to hook up my cable to it. the guide menu for the tv is way better than the cable company provides(Suddenlink). Big fan of XB1!!

I don't have my own X1 but I have one in the house.

I like it a lot.

FPS games like BF4 and CoD are much better on the X1.

It is worth the upgrade from the 360 to the x1 imo. I will make the jump sometime this spring myself.

Love the new controller and the new Kinect (I never had the old one).

Once they get all the little things like headsets and other OS issues fixed/added I think it will really start to shine.

I agree with what bird said also, hoping more will eventually get ps4 as l am on it all the time. Cant see the switching back and forth thing, you paid all that money for the console, make use of it.

I've been using my PS4 more and more lately and was one of those mentioned above playing on my PS3 with other 30's because they hadn't gotten a PS4 yet. I like it a lot and am glad that I finally decided to start using it more and it sucks though with the people I won't get to talk to much on the old system.

It definitely takes a lot of getting used to compared to the PS3 - slowly adjusting to the different controller and the different interface. I think they could have streamlined some things with chat, notifications and game invites and things like that. Hopefully they'll improve on some of that and make it easier to use.

As far as headsets go - what is the popular choice for headsets? I've heard some people say the Astro A50? and some of the Turtle Beach ones. I've been very disappointed in the headset I got with the PS4 (if you can call it that I guess) - it's being used temporarily until I get a cable to go in my headset to the controller since the one with my PX4 headset won't work - wrong size for hole on controller.

From a personal stand point, I like the Turtle Beach PX4. I tried the Astro A50 and didn't like the lack of voice monitoring (i.e. hearing yourself talk). I also could never get it to work right with the PS4. PX4 works fine with the included chat cable connected to the controller.

-Improved graphics, Better looking multiplats etc...
-Party Chat is great (If you liked the Party Chat on the 360, its almost identical)
-UI is very,very fast compared to PS3. It's simple and very organized.
-DL's are fast and no long installs
-The Twitch and Twitter share stuff was a smart move

These are kind of meh for me.
-Controller is nice. Its almost like if the 360 controller and the DS3 had a child it would be the the DS4. I never really had a complaint about the 360 or PS3 controllers though. Battery life seems to be half of the DS3. Although the system does tell you when it's getting low.
-F2P games are a lot of fun and some would say are more fun than what is out now. This could be a negative for some people though.
-Chat headsets well I had to get a different cable from TB. Works just fine now.
-The notifications are kind of blah. Notifications are kind of annoying anyway.

Negatives are not many.
-PSN has been great for me although others have had problems. (Could just be a launch/Christmas type thing.)
-HD is too small for me. (Although it can be replaced and you can see how much room is left.)
-More people need to upgrade.

In conclusion. The last gen consoles are old. BF4, Ghosts and AC4 look and play drastically better on new gen tech. I sort of feel bad for the ones who haven't upgraded yet. I feel like they are missing out. Upgrade people

I went and played on the PS3 the other night, and quickly released what a piece of shit the PS3 contoller is. I felt like Andre the Giant holding that baby little conntroller. I wish the PS4 contoller held a charge longer.

Yeah complaints are pretty low, controller battery and an away/busy status when you leave it on. Also maybe the ability to have it notify you of friends online or playing certain games would be nice. - PS4

You can use your PS4 controller on PS3 btw.

My only negatives lie with software choices regarding notifications (as everyone said no name) headset support and i wish they'd let me organize my games/apps. Place one here pin one here so it doesn't move when it gets a random update etc. It's hard when you have a ton installed.


@Nely: As far as PSN goes i've been amazed... it's downloading blazingly fast and i haven't had a single issue. BF4 on the other hand lol... i dont blame PSN for it's horrible net issues... i have no probs in other multiplayer games.

Most of the negatives are pretty minor.

I don't think anyone is holding off on a PS4 because of PSN. Generally it's the same things (legitimate or not) - friends list, controller, games (i.e. Titanfall or Halo).
