Specialist Strike Package OVERRATED...

Playing last night, mw3 finally clicked for me. I was able achieve good kdr's again easily, and my teams were winning. Two revelations:

1. Using Steady Aim with a SMG and just hip firing guys around corners and also close to mid range battles. ADS wastes time and hip fire is just as effective with this perk. I was even winning over SMG guys with my hipfire ACR. Kinda like bringing it back oldschool like my socom days before all this ADS.

2. I'm no longer using the Specialist Strike Package. We've all been duped thinking that these new killstreaks are the best thing EVAR!! It might be good for some added xp on KC, but it doesn't really help the rest of the team. Also, you do not get the added bonus of easy kills of predator missles and helicoptors/airstrikes/etc, which can add like 2-7 more kills per game.

Air support is really disruptive to the other team. I was playing a game last night where there were constant predator missiles raining down on my team and, and friggin helicopters chippin away at us, it was really discouraging. Also, constant air support like helicoptors drive the other team into underground/buildings making them easier to find and corner.

These are just a couple of things that have made this game fun for me again. Bringing it back to the basics. So I suggest when we group up with clannies we mostly use assault and support killstreaks and leave the specialist package to solo play. This way we can throw everything plus the kitchen sink at these random noobs. Make them run and cry to their mommies. Just my 2 cents.

I 100% agree. Specialist only helps the player, While my killstreaks help my score they also help suppress the enemy. Helping the whole team. And if your wanna whore some XP run SP and CSP only and launch them suckers every 45 seconds all game long.

And really the extra perks are minimal help. Yes they can help a little but usually if you're gonna die, you're gonna die. No matter the extra perks.

5,6,7 is awesome assault package to run hardline it and once you hit 4 kills the rest is easy street. Rinse repeat. Your pred should get at least one if not 2. Then if you manage to stay alive you launch your heli and drop the airstrike. (not on yourself). If you get lucky your heli and airstrike could net you 4 more kills staring the cycle of abuse all over again....

I would do it more often but the reaper drone is so much fun!! I run the 5,7,9 alot.

I run only the SP and ballistic vests and yes you can rack up some serious xp while helping the team. Figure 100 for each SP and 200 for just throwing the vest down with 50 for each vest taken. I always see at least 4 vests used each time so overall im seeing at least 2000 to 3000xp each match in just killstreaks. Play KC with this strategy and the xp will stack quick. I used to be unhappy if i didnt get at least 30 kills a match playing BO but now im pleased to be around 20 and spamming the SPs/Vests in this game. Once in a while depending on the map ill run pred and attack chopper but its usually only while playing dom.

I usually run support with UAV/CUAV...I'm about a 15 kill per game player...so I'm able to get 3 of each up every game...solid points and I have support up for the team for about half of the game...

The only thing to remember is to put the spyplanes up before you earn another...because they don't stack. Today I got to 10 kills and had forgot to put up my planes for the first 5 and I only had one of each...kind of a bummer...

Hoffy - This happens with CP too so I'm assuming it can happen with all assault killstreaks. I've wanted to toss my CP a few times and ended up getting another one just waiting for the right moment. Kind of a bummer to lose the first CP.

Specialist Strike Package...bad for the team, but great for the selfish prestiger in all (most) of us.

In general the specialist package is a very selfish playstyle. That being said I have it on two classes and I do run them in TDM and Kill Confirmed games on occation. On smalller maps like Dome, Arkaden, and Seatown I can run marathon hardline steadyaim with a silenced p90. With the specialist package I can absolutely destroy the enemy team with speed because of the size of the map. For TDM I can usually go 3:1 or 2:1 which is not a bane to the team. The last few days a few clannies have seen some of my games on those maps for kill confirmed and I'm able to pick up and deny a significant # of tags due to speed. If we're playing a skilled team I will definitely switch to a support/assault package but the specialist package can have it's place in a team kill game.

If you are trying to level up it's an absolute monster. You get so much xp with it equipped and if you manage to get all of your perks then you get a specialist bonus every other kill or so. of 200XP

L1 zooms in but I don't find much more effective zoomed in. I like to see as much of the battle as possible and ready up for the next shot. I try to predict who is running into and out of a building and fire accordingly. I also watch the spawns and try to hammer the guy everyone spawns on.

I have a hard time seeing the red laser so I need the zoom. Cheers!

I use the green (i think) box as my guide for the kill zone and control of the arc. I don't see the laser well either.

I have gotten 2 thru a doorway and got triples each time..HooRah it made my night!!

Well I didn't just mean that specialist is selfish... It kind of just limits you to kills with your guns and one lethal equip. Personally I find it easier to get a 7 killstreak with the added 1-2 kills from predator missiles and then more added kills with the helicopter or airstrikes. Just helps me with playing better and higher kdr and points.

I overlooked that point because I haven't had too much success with assault kill streaks. The support streaks have been treating me too well, especially in domination matches. Not allowing kill streaks to progress your kill count in BLOPS changed up my play style. Once I prestige I will attempt to go back to MW2 tactic of playing very defensively after 3 kills and letting my helicopter get me to an AC130.

I think the Specialist package is best suited for FFA or playing with randumbs.

I would say it can have a place in TDM and a little in kill confirmed but i would cry if I saw someone using in an objective mode. It's not very "team" oriented at all.
