| So my wife and I were watching TV just now and we start hearing this hissing sound. I get up to investigate and notice the rechargable batteries I just placed in the charger a few hours ago are ready to split like hot dogs on a grill! I quickly unplugged it and set the whole thing outside. Normally my wife is in bed by now and I'm downstairs with headphones on. Thank God these little piggies didn't pop open or worse start a f'n fire! The charger and batteries were purchased from harbor freight - so if you have one of these items I'd be leary. this is the charger http://www.harborfreight.com/battery-quick-charger-47618.htmlthese are the batteries http://www.harborfreight.com/pack-of-4-nimh-rechargeable-aa-batteries-90148.htmlI'll take investigate further and take pics tomorrow. I totally intend on contacting harbor freight and the manuf. This also reminds me we need a new fire extinguisher! | |

| lol yeah you only have one kid slam - wait until you have two rug rats where every f'n toy uses God damn batteries! shit we have literally like 30 rechargable AA's and probably 16 or so AAA's after re-examining the charger today it appears it was only one battery in particular that was melting the question still lies was it a battery or charger issue. time to buy some more eneloops (best rechargable on the market btw) and give up on china freight junk before i burn alive lol well the local store was concerned - told me to contact the toll free customer service number for harbor freight - that guy couldn't have given a shit less and had no idea what to do or how to handle the situation - basically told me to take it back to the store (duh) so i contacted chicago electric to see how they feel about it - at this point its not a matter of replacing the items I just don't want anyone else to go thru something similar or worse! MANY times I put batteries on after playing then go to bed if that would have been the case here its likely this pos would have burst into flames | |

| Harbor Freight is great for when you need disposable tools LOL When I did upholstery I would buy their $10 cup guns to spray glue out of. I'd get a couple jobs out of them then buy another. | |

I second the props for eneloops. Excellent battery charge retention, well worth it for anything that goes through batteries really quick. I got a bunch of those a while back and use those as much as possible. I hate throwing away batteries... | |

| Go here and report your unsafe product. http://www.cpsc.gov/I bet you'll get their attention when the feds get involved and force them to recall their product. | |
