If you plan to participate in the King of the Week games please take a minute to read thru this.
I know it is lengthy but it will help everyone enjoy the KotW if we follow a few simple guidelines.
If you have never participated before, this will help you feel 'in the loop' once the games start
The King of the Week format
Best of 5
Each map and GameType can only played once, (core and hardcore are considered different games)
first game the challenging team chooses map and gametype. Then the losing team chooses map and gametype for next game.
We need 6 members to sign up, but each division can have 9 players in the lobby and rotate players in.
First 9 players to sign up for each division are in, so hurry and reserve your spot.
Games will be played 6v6.
After the 9th player has signed up, you can still be considered a back-up or alternate if any of the first 9 are unable to make it. The signed-up players have priority, players who have not signed up should only be brought in when a team has less than 9 signed up.
Each region should get together in a separate lobby 5-10 minutes before game time and decide on a captain. The captain should be the person who is familiar with most players in the lobby. While in this lobby take a minute to get your KillStreaks organized as a team.
The captain should have played enough with all the players to know what maps are favored and the general strengths/weaknesses of his/her squad. The captain should be able to look at the 6 players that are in and have a good idea of what map and mode that is still available and make a decision.
At game time everyone will meet up in 1 lobby.
The host should run a FFA for 30 seconds to confirm everyone is happy with the connection.
Then the appropriate captain will call out the map/mode.
Quickly decide who is going to play,
The 6 players that are going to be in need to have their clan tag WC30,CE30,EC30,UK30. The players that are sitting out, need to clear their clan tag. This is to help the team captain know who is in each match.
Once the players are decided the captain will call out (WC top)(EC top) etc
...If you are in, listen for this!!
After the game has loaded, you will be prompted to select a team. If you are one of the 6 that are in you need to select the top or bottom team according to your captains call out.
If you are one of the members rotating out that match you can press circle and go into spectate mode.
As far as what 6 are in.......We should do it voluntarily, which has worked well in the past.
If the voluntary process does not work, the captain will have to choose, the suggested method is lowest score rotates out. (please don't make the captains choose who sits, nobody feels good in the end)
With most KotW's going to the full 5 games and the loser choice rule, picking games and maps in advance would be nearly impossible. We could choose 1 map per mode on the forums and have those lists handy. But I think the captain could get a feeling of everybody's map/mode favs pre-game and work on the fly. I see trying to choose a map/mode here every week becoming very tedious over time, for something we can simply decide in less than a minute in the lobby...As long as everyone is respectful of one another.
Banter is ok, but let the captains talk when they need to.
We are most likely going to play 5 games, I promise you TDM and Dom will come up.
From there we will be forced to play games we don't get to very often. (that's part of the fun)
This is where the voluntary system for player rotation works great, .............
Captain calls out CTF on Hangar 18..
Players who are uncomfortable drop their clantags, Players who want in, keep their tag.
(an example) 4 players have their tag shown, so the captain then ask for 2 more step up.
Nice and easy, and no one was told "they're not wanted".
In the pregame lobby please be respectful of everyone there and allow your team captain to help things go smoothly. 18 people talking over each other creates madness.
After the best of 5 is decided, feel free to stick around for a FFA that is gauranteed to be mayhem..
This is a rough draft of the rules and updates will be made as necessary.
Updates will be clearly posted. If I have missed something feel free to help out.
