Don't have one, but I will eventually be replacing my 42" LG LCD with either the 24" or 27"

you don't need a gaming monitor. you need a monitor with the right specs. most monitors built for pcs will do fine if they have an HDMI built into it. I game one one that was 100 bucks. 23" and no problem at all. Also, the difference is extremely visible. and my kdr went up .5 from black ops to mw3. from there i never went back when i played multiplayer.

I think that monitor is way over priced and it is that costly because it is 3D which I would never use. They slap a gaming mode on there and call it FPS mode and sell it for $400. Really? Maybe it is because you can put a red dot on your screen in the settings where your aim will be. Shit I could do that with a sharpy for free.

So I never considered this before. I just play on my living room TV. Gaming monitors improve your gameplay?

Yes instantly - your range of view is in a smaller area and the response time is typically better than a Tv. Every bit helps = )

I'm realizing my Sony receiver that passes HDMI from my Xbox to TV is likely another delay factor. It gives me great 5.1 with speakers all around, but if it gets me killed more often, I may drop it.. but then what's the way to go?
Monitor with built-in speakers??

Do you not use a headset? I have my audio through my headset only. TV is always muted.

I can vouch for the Asus monitors. I love mine. MLG used Asus last year if that means anything

Looking into it now make sure you get low response time, 2ms or less.

Monitors have a better response time with out all the post processing a TV does and like Migs said less area to look at. Almost all monitors have less that 5ms response time and some have even 1ms response time. Benq and Asus are both very good monitors.

hrm... this might prove harder than I thought... Any idea's on what might be standard for a 1920x1080 laptop LCD Display? or, Does anyone know if there is anyway to test the response time of a given display? (I dunno that I'm ever going to find my exact specs...)

It looks like the biggest screen at best buy is 27" and there is a Samsung and an AOC. The main thing i want to look at is response time right?

Yes and the ones I directed you to have a game mode also. The best way to play on them is like you are sitting at a desk IMO. I have all my stuff set up on a modified kitchen table and play from a computer chair. It is very easy to see and convenient for me because I have my PC right there also with all my recording equipment. There is also less strain on the eyes IMO because less screen to look at and I usually play about 2 feet from the monitor.

That's why I went with the RL over the XL. Only $199 with most of the same features, including a 1ms response time. Biggest sacrifice for me was a refresh rate of 60hz vs the XL with 120hz, but for the half the price, I was ok with it. I have a 60" Samsung 3D LED TV if I feel the need for 3D gaming, so I didn't need it in a monitor. Besides, MLG is using the RL for Black Ops, not the XL. Good enough for them, good enough for me.

I'm seriously considering going this route. Right now I use the TV, and whenever I record or livestream I have cables running all over the damn living room. I have a nice desk sitting in storage right now, bring it back in the apartment and set up a gaming station where I can play and just set the laptop beside it...
