Funny PS4 adverts

(DISCLAIMER:  Let's TRY not to run any Xbox1 vs PS4 stuff.  This is all just marketing chest-beating from Sony, and it's funny.)

So Sony is continuing to poke at M$ with their new online adverts... they are pretty damn good haha.  Some of these are downright amazing... esp. the Price is Right one Bah-hahahah!  <3 Sony as of late lol.  They know how bad M$ screwed up and how the media is portraying them.

I wonder if Microsoft's response will get better than "Get a 360 if you can't handle the One."  lol

Evidentially they have been doing some undercover PR management. As a result of all the negative press and gamer responses they currently have contractors all over websites like Reddit, attempting to manipulate internet opinion. Apparently, the original post by MistySilver (great screen name btw) was removed.  I'll give MS the benefit of the doubt on this one, but you never know...

^^^The reason it was removed is they had no "proof" and the internet was in a fucking uproar over it on Reddit haha there were threats and shit too hahaha!  Poor M$

Gun, you seem to have a lot of disdain for MS, where does it all stem from?  I am curious how big bad Sony all of a sudden became the white knight.

It plays to the home crowd but that crowd is going to buy the PS4 no matter what MS does.

They bought the PS1, PS2, PS3 and will buy the PS4.

Besides, the PS4 will have DRM and subscription fees and all that jive.  For them to claim otherwise right now in actual advertising isn't wise.

What this does make clear is that Sony is feeling the pressure this generation to produce with the gaming division big time and attempt to take back what MS gained this last generation....the top spot in the US market.  Tearing down the new xbox won't win back the US market though.  A picture of the actual PS4 would be nice at some point.......do we have one yet?

The ad campaign at this point is vague references to the competition as well as nice pics of the ????controller?????

Okra, they unveiled the box at E3 on Monday.

I think the ads are clever pokes at the differences between the PS4 and XB1. Sure, Sony would be in big trouble with consumers if they go back on what they say now, but I think they feel they are in a good enough spot that they won't have to go back on their word.

Are you sure that those are actual Sony ads? I would be surprised if they are official Sony ads; I have done some design work professionally and my wife is a Graphic Designer and the fact that those images use such a variety of fonts, the alignment is just off, and the spacing is erratic and it screams fanboy work.

It's still funny, but I really don't think that Sony created them.

Okra, I hate to rain on your parade, and maybe I'm the exception, but I had the N64 and PS1, the Xbox, the Xbox 360 (which I sold when the PS3 came out), the PS3, and intended to get the Xbox One until I found out about the systems and all of Xbox's restrictions and always on Kinect.

Fanboys will get what fanboys want to get.  The success of the next generation will be about the people that are on the fence, that can be swayed one way or the other in the next 5 months.  Incumbents always have the advantage, but each generation of video games bring new challenges in maintaining the lead.

Right now, the messaging is all going Sony's way.  You have to wonder how much MS can change the momentum of the press and media by changing policies, software and hardware capabilities, developer contracts, etc. before November.

Personally, I've had all the systems since N64 and Playstation 1 except the Xbox 360.  I was all set to get the XB1, but now I'm gonna be PS4 all the way, unless there are some major changes to the XB1.

I like the no disk needed model myself.  No more scratched disks.   I don't like the no swapping out the hdd again and 500 HDD is pretty small if I'm required to install all games.  There are things I like and things I don't like.

I honestly think the biggest advantage the PS4 has over the Xbox One is simple....price.

$100 bucks will matter.

BF4 is the only real reason I see to consider the new consoles at this point anyway.

I do have a fundamental disagreement about how the marketing is playing out but that view is based on who is the real market and what are the real goals as viewed by the companies themselves.

For sure, the XB1 has some cool features and yes they are pushing the envelope in some areas (and going backwards in others, but that's not the point). They should be concentrating their message on that. Marketing 101 --> Give me benefits, not features. Tell me how the XB1 will improve my life, my entertainment time, etc. Don't tell me what I can't do, or what I have to do just so I can play games.

Sony's message has been clear, or at least more clear than Microsoft's: You can play all your games just like you currently do. You have to join PS+, but hey you get all these old PS3 games to play for that price in addition to online multiplayer.

As I said, next move is for MS to come up with a better message. Based on what they have stated so far, I'm not sure they can or will, but 5 months is a long time and they have a chance to make changes that would affect the outcome if they wanted to.

I think the message from MS is crystal clear.

They intend to own the living room and make everything seamless as possible.

They are very clear on this I think.  It is a very market oriented move imo as I see a vast market for this type of integration and they are marketing it.

We are here on the games first website so we have a perspective but it isn't the only market that buys gaming consoles or roku's or whatever.  And content will matter in the very end to me.

It isn't a game but I have Uverse and that comes with ESPN app on the xbox which is awesome.  I don't like the thought of giving up ESPN3.  I actually use that...it has value to me.

I looked at my FL earlier and had 15 friends online (expanding to 1000 as new limit I hear).  Of the 15, 9 were watching some sort of video app.  Two were kids playing MLB 2K13 ha ha.  Point is.....I see a lot of "not gaming" being done by folks on my friends list.

Xbox is surely marketing to that crowd big.
