| Ok, so I have a ps3 and Xbox 360 hooked up to my tv via an hdmi switch etc.. Was working great. Then I bought an hdmi to VGA cable cause I have an extra monitor hanging around, that way my son and I can play both systems at once : ago in was working great. We would just swap out the cable and go whoo hoo... The other day my son did a switch for his Xbox to the monitor played fine, BUT suddenly the "regular" tv won't accept the signal from the cable. I have tried hot swaps, verified the cables all work, it still works on the hdmi to VGA..I have tried the reboot system etc.. Went into settings turned off the auto detection in display settings... Any ideas on how to get back to hd on our big tv? Man graphics stink playing on composite, any help appreciated :-). J | |

| have you tried a new hdmi cable? i would say it may be the actual hdmi that went bad. | |

| What kind of HDMI switch are you using? Sounds like your switch might only be allowing one output at a time maybe? | |

| I have had this same problem with my console that I move from room to room a lot. Reset the video once hooked up when booting hold y and the right trigger on controller 1 and the system will automatically reboot once you get past the splash screen. Might take several tries but it works on mine. Also once reset and it boots up if the setting arent available turn off the xbox and tv then turn on the tv and start the xbox. | |

| Thanks guys for the help. I tried them all and stayed up way too much trying to figure this out. I even went as far as the "towel trick" to fix this. I did find a solution: bought a component HD cable for the Xbox. After all the trials, googling, grinding of teeth I came to find out this: kind of interesting to me. After the Xbox was hooked up via hdmi-VGA the Xbox "updated" the cable with hdcp coding, which apparently my Panasonic viera does not decode.. So the hdmi cable(s) are pretty much useless at this point.. I tried 3 different cables, but not another tv, because I know the system is not moving from where it at. Apparently there are many Xbox owners who encounter the same problem.. I may be crazy but that is how I interpreted the communication. Thanks again , J dawg | |

| Thats pretty crazy. I know I play on a large TV and a small monitor (for FPS try hard games) and I have a component, and an HDMI. it works easy especially when going back and forth.
