Anyone playing behind a VPN?

Just curious if anyone is playing behind a VPN? I have thought about setting up my VPN client on my DD-WRT router, but was afraid the XBL connection might go to crap.

If you are playing behind a VPN set up at your house,  you are effectively putting yourself behind a lag wall (for gaming) and not helping you stay anonymous from anyone or anything since your external IP is still the same.  If you subscribe to a VPN,  you are setting yourself up to lag a lot,  but no one will know where you are in the US.

Needless to say,  you can set up your VPN client at your house,  but put the xbox IP address outside in a DMZ with a static ip address.  This will give you your anonymity when surfing the web and downloading whatever you want to download and give you a clear unhindered and optimally routed connection to play games with.

I subscribe to VPN. And Camel I have my reasons... I just changed all my settings so my xbox doesn't use the VPN at all. But all other devices do. Just took me a bit to figure out.

^^^id love to hear more about this... i'm a networking noob but moving end of the week... and it would be a good time to redo my home network. Costs... benefits etc.

Have you used DD-WRT Firmware for routers? If so I will post a startup script you can edit for your needs.

Shit no haha... i'm such a noob when it comes to that crap lol! You should start a thread with some routher DIY info and such... seems like you'd be able to come up with solid lil database for all us who know nada.

I could try, DD-WRT is just a opensource firmware for Routers. I'll see what I can come up with if we have enough interested.
