| I'm buying a new set that will eventually need to be compatible with the next gens. I'm assuming, since its just audio imput, that just about anything will be compatible but wanted to check with you tech heads....? | |

| The XB1 will have a new connector type NOT your typical 2.5mm headphone style port. If you have a headset that uses that connector you'll need the magical adapter they're going to sell.
I would hold out and get a headset with the proper plug.
I believe the reason they went to the new plug was to provide you 5.1 or 7.1 surround out of the controller.

| That's what I thought a while back when upgrading my standard issue 360 headset. If all you want is chat then any will do, but game volume in the headset is huge, especially in Ghosts.
If you want to use it for next gen I think we have to wait and see what comes out. I don't think anything aftermarket is available today, let alone anything backwards compatible with 360-X1.

| Another vote to wait. The new jack, like Jay said, allows much greater detail in chat voice sound. It doesn't effect in-game sounds though. You'll want to still use the optical out for wired headsets according to what everyone is saying. PS4 you get all sound straight from the standard 3.5mm jack in the controller as well as sound... but you dont get the new awesome voice quality to chat that you get with the One.
Here is the example Major Nelson posted a while ago comparing voice chat b/w 360 and One. Yes, i'm jealous lol.

With PS4 you can use just about any headset that does audio from the optical out and has a 2.5 or 3.5mm chat audio cable... you have use an adapter if you have a 2.5 to make it 3.5 but they work. I'll be using my TurtleBeaches until Sony releases the software patch for the Pulse Elites or releases a new version.

(Careful what you say here people take console wars personal.) sorta lol I agree with you but this is more evidence that these consoles were not ready. Xbox more so than PS4. Turtle Beach released a PS4 cable for a lot of Turtle Beach headsets. I ordered one yesterday. http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/cables-parts/ps4-chat-cable/464

| I had heard that an adapter was in the works to convert current headsets to next gen ? Im staying with 360 but need a new turtle beach or Astros as my old 7.1 TB only work for solo, my mic is broken. So I will be buying something new for Christmas for my 360. I hope this adapter comes out so when/if I decide to go next gen my headset wont be obsolete. | |

| From what I read on IGN and I think here even the 3rd party headsets for the Xbone is going to have the adapters for the controller. Which isn't going to be released until sometime in 2014. Depending on what I get if I do go with the Xbone I will use the cheap one for the chat but use my Astro A50's for game sound. | |

If the $200 for the A40s include the mixamp, then that in a great deal. Although, if you are getting an Xbox One, you can only use them in stereo mode. MS right is only supporting Stereo and DTS on their sound output and the A40s don't support DTS.

| By Mixamp, do you mean the Mixamp Pro? Or the one that is included with the A50's?
Looks like the A40 does not have the mixamp.

Looks like the A40 does not have the mixamp. The A40s can be purchased with or without the Mixamp Pro...here is a Amazon link for one with the mix amp (out of stock though) http://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-A40-Audio-System-White/dp/B004N7HSGUBTW...looks like most places have lowered their price to $199 for the A40s with the mixamp. Astro will be coming out with Xbox One headsets in 2014.

BTW...looks like most places have lowered their price to $199 for the A40s with the mixamp. Astro will be coming out with Xbox One headsets in 2014. Ok because I've been a Turtle Beach guy since I joined the clan way back in 2011, this is what I've found out: A50 - $240 - Wireless, has a mixamp transmitter included. Not the Mixamp Pro. Astro A50 at BestBuyA40 - $199 - Wired, includes with Mixamp Pro. Astro A40 at BestBuyI think I want to get the A50, but what is the Mixamp Pro for? Is it better to get the A40 with the Mixamp Pro? I don't do commentaries or anything like that, just in game audio and chat on my PS3 and PS4.

| Actually, according to the website, all Astros work with the PS4. They will not with the XB1, as they will require the adapter that won't be available until 2014. That adapter is for all 3rd party headsets on the XB1. | |

| I guess they're including a new 3.5mm 4 pole chat wire to give functionality. Turtle beach is doing the same selling a $7.00 wire for existing headsets. The Turtle Beach Ear Force PS4™ Chat Cable keeps you connected with friends and teammates on PSN by providing the link between your PS4 Controller and Turtle Beach gaming headset. The PS4 Chat Cable is specifically designed for Turtle Beach headsets. Most other available 3.5mm to 2.5mm cables WILL NOT WORK with Turtle Beach headsets. Ear Force® Surround Sound Headset Compatibility: PX5 XP500 XP400 X42 X41 DX12 DX11 DPX21 DXL1 Call of Duty® Black Ops II TANGO Call of Duty® Black Ops II X-RAY Call of Duty® MW3 Delta Ear Force® Stereo Headset Compatibility*: X12 X11 XL1 X32 X31 XP300 - See more at: http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/cables-parts/ps4-chat-cable/464#sthash.hW66l98e.dpufhereHaving used both A40s and loads of Turtle Beach sets... id get the TB XP Sevens over any Astro. Astro's audio quality isn't worth the price. The XP Sevens sound damn good but their real appeal is their DSP and sound customization and crazy option set. I'm personally waiting to see what new headset Sony comes up with. Their headsets (the awesome Pulse Elite in particular) give great sound and functionality for a superb price! Remember... Sony put the TrueAudio DSP in the PS4... they're going to utilize that with their next sets for sure. | |

Also the A40s are wired and the A50s are wireless.

| So I picked up the A50. Pretty nice, but not exactly a game changer, at least for me. I had problems setting it up on the PS3 and PS4, until I figured out I hadn't paired it correctly. Then it worked fine on the PS3. Didn't get a chance to try it on the PS4.
Quick question, if anyone has them. Does the A50 have the voice monitoring, where you can hear yourself in the headphones when you talk? I couldn't hear myself and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.
Gonna give them a few more days and determine if they are worth the $258 I paid for them.

With PS4 you can use just about any headset that does audio from the optical out and has a 2.5 or 3.5mm chat audio cable... you have use an adapter if you have a 2.5 to make it 3.5 but they work. I'll be using my TurtleBeaches until Sony releases the software patch for the Pulse Elites or releases a new version. you know the pulse elites work now if you use the cable to plug it in to the ds4 and change audio output to all
