I had a AH HA! moment this morning running a few laps. My biggest difficulty has been hitting the apex of corners right and knowing when to get back into the throttle. I drive in the std view behind the steering wheel, and I realized that I was looking down the hood of the car and relying on my peripherals to see the corners. Which means I'd dive into or exit the corners to early or late most of the time.
I started to focus on watching the upcoming corners and relied on my peripherals to keep the car on the track. Wow! what a difference.
On forza 4 I ended up driving using the front bumper camera which in hindsight was more a crutch to counter a bad habit. If you can't see the hood of the car you'll look a little further down the road. The problem with the front bumper camera is that its so low to the ground your visibility is garbage. And its hard to recover from a drift.
Its ironic that video games mimic real life in this regard. There are a LOT of people who drive their real cars looking down the hood, and following the lines, instead of looking down the road. Which is why there are so many rear-end collisions.
My tip of the day for those even more novice than me:
Look to where you want to go....the car will follow

That's a great tip...it's applicable for the behind car view too. I'll cover my tips on cornering in another video. It's all about tuning, corner entry, apex, exit and throttle & break control. One tip for breaking...once you turn off ABS....is to never pull the trigger more that 1/4 to 1/2 and do it progressively. This will reduce breaking distance up to 50%...with proper break bias and pressure tuning.

Great stuff. Looking forward to learning to drive in this game. Totally new experience for a first person shooter guy like me.

I'll try some of these. Need to tune the crap out of my 2013 Audi R8. Thing is pushing 1200hp and won't stay on the road

Yea Mav, it seems that even with modest engine upgrades its difficult to keep any car hooked up. Gotta spend those points on handling and tires first. It seems that you need an extra sensitive throttle to be able to drive with an engine that powerful. I was playing around getting my '73 Trans Am to be a hot rod, and with "Sport" engine upgrades and keeping it in "B" class I could barely drive it because it was too much engine. It was fun to drive though! Sounded Awesome! Those old muscle cars are fun to drive.
I wish that I could check what some of the tuning "Tuned by Worm" does. Its fairly easy to figure the equipment upgrades on a new cars, when you take it off you've still bought the upgrades, so they will be available. But there must be some significant changes to the adjustable components, because I've tried just using the same components on default settings, but it didn't work even close to as good as his tune did. My goodness his tunes are great for handling, but not the greatest top speed. I'm easily beating the bots on career with difficulty 2 above average with his tunes. Can't beat them on the long straightaways, but can pass 2 or 3 on a corner. And once you're out front you're gone, unless you mess up.
I get pretty annoyed in multiplayer though, it seems that nobody has the patience to pass anyone clean, all they do is crash the person they are attempting to pass. Its not a gentleman's race at all online its one pit maneuver after the other. You're only chance is to get out front...and not let them catch you.
