MW3 vs Battlefield 3

OK, so hear is the deal. My life as a FPS gamer has been Counter Strike back in the mid 90s and the COD Modern Warfare 1, 2, 3, and Opps. My fondest memory's where back in the 90s when I was new to FPS's and it blew my mind! I was instantly addicted. I played that game every hour I could for 6 years! Then I got a girl friend, married, and kids. Needless to say that was the end of that.

Many years latter I found Modern Warfare. It brought back the old memories and I started playing it around my family's schedule's and have worked my way ( not as fast as other booger brained people) through the ranks and prestige's until MW2 came out. I have been doing that ever since (including Black OPPs).

Now my experiences with FPS has been just those. I have nothing else to compare the FPS world to. So with that in mind comes the question at hand.

Is Battlefield 3 truly that bad or am I just not getting it?

I just forked over $60 for the game and my first impressions are .........................I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I don't like wasting money that could be better spent on the kids, so I am willing to give the game a chance.

Let me break down what I don't like about it.

1) To much on the screen: What gets me is that I can't see the guy in front of me because the screen is full of multi-color things that do not mean anything to me and I serenity do not need them smack-dab in the middle of my screen. I cant see the guy I'm trying to shoot because there is a blue square right in the middle trying to count down(or UP depending on the direction I am headed) to let me know I'm getting near something I don't care about.

2) It takes forever to respon: Why? I don't need to take 5 min. (it seams that way) to change my class and pick a respon point. That is just stupid to me.

3) The Maps are WAY to big: There is nothing more boring than running around for 5 min. after respon just to see an enemy for the first time. It slows the game way down for me.

4) Vehicles: Its fun for the first time then ............... not so much. Just a bunch of idiots running tanks over cliffs, plains into the ground, and helicopter pilots that cant seam to keep them in the air.

So lets talk. Am I way off here or do I just need to broaden my horizons?

I would love to feel I didn't just wast my money, but I'm thinking I did.

I too wasted my money. And I could have saved that money perhaps if I had read this post first

Lmfao....I hated BF3 up til a few weeks ago, and gave a second chance.Dont play solo is the only suggestion I can give this late into the game.

There is a learning curve. I enjoy the realism, personally.

If you are the type that wants non stop action then you're a COD player. If you like more of a mental game with tactics and strategy along with team cooperation and realism then BF3 is your game.

I like both - I have my moments where I like one or the other. I'd bet you'd change your mind if you were on a full platoon of 30's it did mine.

I'm playing Planetside 2 beta at the moment (exclusive to PC) imagine BF3 with 1000's of people at once (infantry, ground, and air support). With 4 continents that are 1000's of meters square! It's the furthest thing from COD. You can't be a one man army you have to play objectively and it forces team / coop type play.
