The Great Sub-Machine Gun Question, Which do you think is best, and what's your setup?

So here's the question I've been trying to figure out for weeks now: What SMG to use and what's the optimal setup? I know much of this relates to personal preference and play style, but I'm curious to see what y'all are using.

I've been using, more-or-less, the same classes from the beginning. I always run the same perks: Sleight of Hand Pro, Assassin Pro, and Stalker Pro. As well as always using Flash and Semtex. It's pretty much the same setup I ran on both MW2 and BlOps.

The SMG's I've been stuck on, and can't seem to want to take off my Custom weapons list are the P90 with Rapid Fire and Silenced, the UMP Rapid Fire and Silenced, and Occasionally the PP90M1 Rapid Fire and Silenced. I guess I'm just a Rapid Fire and Silenced dude. The only qualm I have with the setup is that I can't seem to hit targets at a distance that I would otherwise knockdown with an assault rifle. Should I switch over to the Range option instead of attachments and drop the rapid fire or the silencer?

If I'm not using SMG I'm usually using some sort of Sniper Rifle setup, maybe I'll try running overkill and see what having the best of both worlds together would be like.

I can't stop using the MP7 in a variety of setups, even though it can sometimes be a cruel mistress (mostly trying to use steady aim, i just fail at that).

But using blindeye pro, i can shoot down a chopper with extended mags usually before the first mag is done (and that's silenced). It's like a mini AR.

I run the PP90 with Kick, put a red dot on it and run. I tried the rapid fire but my accuracy dropped off. I Think the PP90 shoots fast enough I have had a lot of doulble kill and a few Triple kills with it. As far as long shots I believe kick will help you keep the gun from jumping when you are aiming at the targets farther away. Just my thoughts on the SMG.

Used to be pp90, now it's the UMP with attachments, red dot, extended mags. Im gonna try the mp7 next.

I voted MP7, but I find myself using SMGs a lot less now. MP7 has poor irons, so it is difficult to hit anything at range without RDS, and ext mags are a must, so I usually run Attachments. I used to run silencer, but it really drops the power. On FFA I'll run it with Silencer and ext mags when I'm trying to stay off the map.

Second fave is p90 because you don;t need ext mags. RDS and Silencer on that one too.

I've been running mostly Hardline on open maps where I can shoot down UAVs and Assassin on maps with lots of buildings.

I've been auditioning all the ARs this prestige to see what I'll spend a token on. Right now AK47 is the front runner, but I will work out the FAD tonight.

Overkill seems a waste of time to me. So you swap to your AR for longer range and then blam...a guy right in front of you. I guess my point is that you will not likely swap back to your SMG.
Plus there are always guns littering the floor to pickup as a secondary.

Steady Aim Pro (a must personally)

Just remember that it seems to gain the tighter bullet spread with steady aim, you can't be moving.

Favorite SMG....that's tough as I find I do okay with all of them and no one in particular stands out except that UZI like one that is a steaming pile of shit. Everyone rants about the MP7 but it doesn't seem any better than the P90 or PP90-M. Apparantly it has the damage range of an assault rifle though.

Personal fave is probably still the UMP though.

Loved the PP90 with silencer and red dot. Good cyclic rate already so I didn't feel the need to run the rapid fire on it. Really liking the MP7 also. Haven't gotten the extended mags for it yet though.

Just started using this set up and been having alot of sucess with it. Between this and my new found love for the striker I might be putting the assault riffles on the shelf for a while.

I run 2 classes because I love this gun some much.

The mp7 is a laser beam.

I use pp90 with extended mags and rapid fire. depending on map size. extreme conditioning or sleight of hand. hardline pro, and steady aim pro. I don't even aim down sights anymore when using submachine gun. for search i use ump45 silencer with impact. sleight of hand, hardline, and dead silence. can't tell you how many times on search and destroy that I've killed a guy that I heard first.

I'd like to say PP90M1 but the reload is so slow. So I went with the MP7. I has carried me through 1.5 prestiges so far. Once you get used to the irons its deadly but you rarely need to ADS anyway. Xmag and RF or range and silencer. For Dropzone I put the thermal scope on it - don't forget to holdbreath (L3)!

I like the pp90 and the MP7. I use 2 attachments either rapid fire and silencer or rapid fire and red dot. SOH, hardline, and marksman. I may test out the range perk tonight.

Definately a PP90M1 man.

This is my go to class when all else fails. It is also my specialist class.

I run extreme conditioning pro, hardline pro, steady aim pro,

Specialist is SOH pro, Savanger, and Assassin pro.

SOH after one kill plus the first time you shoot so you need a reload, savenger after three kills because you now need ammo, and assassin pro at 5 kills to hide till I get my specialist pro for all of the perks.

I run tact. insert for CTF, but run concussion otherwise. I also run frag.

My secondary is dual FMG9s

MP7 all the way. Deadly accurate with no noticeable recoil so you can use the range proficiency. RDS and ext mags on it for me. You don't need rapid fire at all on it as that only tweaks it by 10% unlike other smgs which get 25%. I've run the PP90M1 lately to try it but it definitely needs rapid fire to be effective and SOH to reload it. It's not bad but it just can't compete with the MP7. Finally a gun/class where the latest unlock is the beast gun.

I'm putting my vote in for the P90...though the MP7 is a close 2nd and I've been using it a bunch lately. The MP7 is more accurate, and I can hit more long shots with it due to the very managable recoil...but the P90 seems to have more power and I drop people quicker while taking down more multikills with it.

MP7 gets another vote here w/ rapid fire and extended mags. Scav/Any/Steady Aim = Mop em up

Ok I tried the mp7 last night - even fresh out the box I likey.

Didn't get as much time as I'd like with it - bunch of us were playing ground war last night and my Internet shit the bed which is why I suddenly disappeared - so sorry bout that felllas - trials of living in BFE.

How do you run Range with RDS and Extended mags? Don't you need Attachments for that?

I run the UMP with range and RF or EX mags, things a beast! SoH pro/QD pro/ Marksman pro perks with akimbo FMG-9s. Frag/stun. Ive used this set up on all the maps, its def my go to loadout.

I keep returning to the UMP, mostly used with RF. I had the best luck I think using Focus or Kick. The P90 is a close second for me.

I didn't give the MP-7 much of a chance due to timing. When I unlocked it, Drop Zone started, and I don't like an SMG for that, then I prestiged. My limited experience with it wasn't positive. It didn't seem to hit hard enough to keep me alive (MP and Survival). It was sort of curious and probably unfair because I have had good luck with the MP-9. Next time around I will give it another chance.
