| This happened for the first time yesterday. I reset everything and it worked. Now today, it's doing it again. Is my router dead you think? |

| Anyone? I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to the tech stuff. I forgot to say, every time I'd get this and go check my router, the orange light would be on like it was in sleep mode. I would have to hit the reset button (it only has one button, no power). It's a Linksys about 2 years old. |

| Make sure you have the latest firmware for your router installed.
Also try this In wireless and network settings, goto wi-fi settings, hit your menu button and go to advanced settings. Change your sleep policy to never.

| when you say "not detected" you mean the wireless network SSID or name isn't being shown as an available network?
have you recently introduced ANY new wireless devices in your home? is there a microwave near the device?
if not id recommend a hard reset (check your users manual on the process) you'll then be required to re-setup the device
some general options to be set - make sure it auto switches channels and is NOT hard set to one particular channel - if there is another network within range on the same channel it may be stepping all over it
does the wap sit near any metal like a beam or hvac duct?

| You can set it to a particular channel. The frequency in a home will overpower the other. Also, if it is a wireless N router, It should not really matter much. Unless they are running an enterprise grade wireless AP or a booster then your channel is going to be fine. I have had to change the AP channel when placing my xbox on my network. Generally the last option should be fine to use if that is the issue.
I am assuming his SSID is not off since it is saying it is not detected, which means it should be in his list of known networks. My initial thought is file cabinets, or something metal in the way, a new phone or someone leeching bandwidth from his home. At that point, I would hardwire what I could and go back to business.
