Lets get blacked out on 4/20 !

So some people are trying to organize a 24 hour mw3 black out april 20th. When i get off work will post the vid. I for one think its a pretty good idea and will be supporting it.

I was approached to join the movement, too.

I dunno if I agree with all of what they're pushing for. To be honest, some of them are a bit unreasonable and not their decision. But MW3 does have problems and it does need to be addressed. Look no further than the crazy hacked lobby I posted earlier to see where things can go if IW does nothing.

I'm not advocating joining the movement, but will share what I know for open discussion.

I onlt maybe agree with 70% of what there pushing for. And thanks for posting the link

The Zeitgeist Movement has run out of things to take action against, eh? I agree with what they are asking for, but I'm not sure I will be able to stay away on a Friday night.

I can find something else to do for one day. I'm in.

Its just MW3 I plan on playing blops that day.

We can all do black ops or bf3 for a day but you know it will do no good!

it would be funny if the IW folks did a DLC drop on 4.20 LOLz

This might be the push back to Skyrim or Assassin's Creed....I still need to watch the video though....under the wife's thumb right now.

Edit: Yeah, they're really asking for a lot... Either way, I have many other games I can play if I even get to play that day. Any idea why they picked April 20th? maybe they just want everyone to light up that day

I can't see this accomplishing anything. They got their billions already.

I agree with it in principle, but it will fall on deaf ears.

I wish they would just fix half of the things mentioned and I would be satisfied.

I can't disagree that they've got their billions, but we can still make a 'silent scream'. We may be only 700 strong (all in), but we're also only one clan of many.

No doubt Activision / IW is aware of this impending 'black out'. I bet they're watching closely to see if we're willing to "put our money where our mouth is" on April 20th, if even for only a day. If the masses actually stop playing for that one day, Activision / IW's going to know that we actually MEAN it. On the flip-side if we DON'T, we can be absolutely assured they're going to go away to their boardrooms laughing about "the little uprising that couldn't" and never giving it a second thought...

Maybe the one day blackout will be enough to at least make them think about their next release?

Here's my logic: Game development is risky business. Game developers spend YEARS paying hundreds of salaries to get a game to market and they often see NO revenue on a project until they've paid into it for 18-24 months.

Take a relatively small development team of 300 (including all game designers, map makers, artists, musicians, etc, etc, etc) at $40,000/yr (and trust me, some of these guys are making more!!); that's $12,000,000 just in salaries!! Add office space, advertising, console certification, manufacturing discs, etc, etc, etc... Long story short, they spend a LOT of money to get a disc to market and then risk having the community NOT buy it.

Now, will this one day movement stop those sales? Of course not, because little Timmy and Jimmy and Jane all want the new CoD "cause all my friends have it!" and they're gonna get mommy and daddy to buy it for them; the mommy's and daddy's who don't play & don't care.

But, I still feel that if we DON'T, we're just telling them we're a wishy-washy bunch of whiners...

Out of curiosity, is there anyway to see how many people are online without going online yourself? (would be curious to see just how quiet the servers are that day...)

I can live without MW3 for a Day....I will just go play zombies with vegas or the Show 12

When a development studio is backed by EA (Dice) or Activision (IW / Treyarch) 100K is like 10 bucks to us.

anyone else notice the date is 4/20? I don't know if it will help or hinder the cause. There will be a portion of the community too high to play but then again gaming while stoned is a lot of fun
