| I finally got around to playing with my modem today and just by using the DMZ option and using the Ethernet cable over wireless the speed test went from 10down 0.9up to 13down 1.5up
I wanted to try port forwarding the PS3 too, but I've seen a few different posts on portforwarding. So I started to look for the old posts I'd read but couldn't find them.
Which leads me to this, would it be worth it for the clan as a whole. And if it's not to much effort for the1 or a Mod. Could we have an area for technical posts, questions, set-ups etc... so geekier clannies can help out us cool guys who are to busy Pwoning Noobs and being all Beast to read up on all that speccy shiz nit. |

| Yes, it is a good idea. A nice "How to" section for tech support would be nice. The1 will have to do as he has the admin priviledges and he is gone to Disneyland for awhile. I am sure he can do it when he gets back. |

| You cant port forward and DMZ at the same time if thats what you were thinking. DMZ just opens all ports and forwarding opens only certain ones. Its way easier to DMZ than forwarding and it will work for every game you play online. If you use forwarding you have to open up the ports for each game and that takes more time nd effort. |

| Even if you use a DMZ, most providers still have a firewall in my place on your router/switch, so it's not completely vulnerable even if you're just assigning only the PS3 to the DMZ. I think it's more of a "Black Ops has horrifically bad netcode" issue, as I don't think, or at least I hope, MW3 will be more like MW2 where even with 3 bars, games are still largely playable and hit detection isn't as bad. I know I have OPEN NAT type, and last night I got kicked from a clannie party going onto Summit, where it timed out from the host, and this was a night of bad 3-bar connections. I was able to rejoin but it was on the other side, and some [SEXY]Pornstar or something was on the clan's side. |

| I forgot to add that running hardwired as well will give you a better connection. Its proven to give you more stable/better down/up speeds. From my experience and what ive read DMZ or portforward will not increase internet speeds but it will help someone who has a strict or moderate NAT get it to open. I tried both before and didnt see any increase at all. |

I know I have OPEN NAT type now, and last night I got kicked from a clannie party going onto Summit, where it timed out from the host, and this was a night of bad 3-bar connections. I was able to rejoin but it was on the other side, and some [SEXY]Pornstar or something was on the clan's side. I've heard this in a few different posts and this is why I was considering trying the Port Forward option 'instead of' the DMZ. My NAT type is now open but I still had some horrendous 2 bar games last night with the clan. I can only assume my ping for the PS3 is high since my speeds are looking ok. Can your firewall increase your ping speed and therefore increase in game lag? Has anyone tried both DMZ and Port Forward? Did you notice any difference? Is there a ping test on the PS3 menu hidden away somewhere? |
