Life.

My old man told me that life is a series of small wins.  In the recent months I have learned what that meant.  

I recently got promoted at work and the DAY I started in my new role my wife told me she was pregnant, I aged 10 years in about 5 minutes. We waited till my mothers birthday to tell my parents and something rare actually happened my old man cried.  My old man is the oxford English definition of a hard ass: Drill Instructor for the United States Army, 4 tours in Vietnam as a Cavalry Scout, married a Korean woman.

Seeing that for the first time humanized a man that, still to this day, scares the living crap out of me.  

Then the reality of losing another child set in.... HARD.  We waited till the first ultrasound came back then we started to tell certain people. One of the first people I told was BlackHawxx.  Now to some of you that may seem strange, but I respect the HELL out of Kevin and he is what I consider the older brother that I never had. Kevin reached out to me long time ago and ever since then we go out of our way tease each other and I would have it no other way.  Another one was Migs.  Migs and I clicked I never knew why, maybe because I was born in El Paso, maybe because he’s 6’4” and a eating machine like me?  Same thing Migs reached out to me and we have been brothers from another mother since.

I really don’t have that many friends out there but a good 75% of them i’ve meet here.  Like any other family unit we have had our ups and our downs. What remained the same is that we take care of our own.

Yesterday, on my birthday we found out that we are going to be having a boy.  

Yes he already has a better KD and pulled off a double swarm.

Then we found out that my wife’s grandmother, the patriarch of her family, is in the last legs of her journey here on earth with us.  My wife still called her and told her that she is going to be a great-grandmother, she may have not know who she was but she was still as excited.

That's a great post. Your old man and my dad sound like the same guy. I too saw my dad cry for the first time when my son was born. It was tough growing up with such a militant father but as I grew I started understanding were he was coming from. I respected him so much I named my first born after him. And now I'm finding myself turning into him.

That's great news Will. Get in as much game time as you can before he arrives!
