| I've got about 6 wildfires around me in NE Texas. Gregg, Upsher, Marion county. There's 3 within a 10 mile radius of my house. One across the street from my job and 1 within 10 minutes of my house. Everyone in texas take care. I might not be going to work tomorrow. | |

| AAAAAAHHHHH...
So everything was hunky dory till the afternoon yesterday when we saw smoke to the east...then on our little sleepy street, which is a humongous straight line with nothing more then 15 houses started seeing traffic where usually there is none.
The only info we could find is that a grass fire had started in Grimes County then spread to Magnolia...of course we became concerned considerind we can drive to Mangolia in 20 minutes.
So...around 7 (Im guessing) rows of Police cars come barreling down to everyones homestead, booming through the horn that we have 15 minutes to leave 'cause a mandatory evacuation has just been enforced....fuck...fuck...oh fuck...
Of course that moment of panic sets in for a second (or 5) before a plan pops up:
So...we grabbed all documents, each a bag of clothes (like a bunch of college students), Mazzy could'nt part with here stuffed animanl and dolls, our family bible and prayer icon, the computer, the 32inch flatscreen, all game systems (yes I remembered the headphones), a bottle of 20 year old Jamesons and the real sentiment (at least for me) an original R2D2 Cookie jar I've had since 1977.
Everything packed in the cars we take a look around the living room and all I could thing of doing was and which I did...gave a little hug and a kiss to my 55 inch plasma which has brought me such joy with you boys and girls.
Of course I feel a lil better knowing that everything is insured...but the worst part of this is not knowing if we have a home or not...'cause living with my sis-in-law, her husband and 4 kids along with my family of 4 and her parents will probably wear thin by 7pm tonight. Thank goodness they opened their doors and that they live only 40 minutes from us.
So...we are safe...And with the Grace of God (the Catholic one) we may or may not have our home by the end of the day... |

| Defo Fran and thanks...
But I'm wondering how long it'll take before I have a meltdown with house filled with 12 people and the majority of them loud and having a penchant for listening to Evangelical radio stations then I'm looked at as a freak 'cause I'm a Catholic...there is nothing Christian about Christian music... |

| Manic- At least you got a chance to say goodbye to the TV in the event it should pass. Saying goodbye is always hard. At least you saved R2.
We are all thinking of you. Hopefully the hardest thing is living with the in-laws through this whole thing and you will never have to meet with the insurance adjuster.
If your sister has at least 4 down and 2 up then I would not care what religion she was (hehe).
Good luck to you as well Dave. I hope your place of work makes it and you and your family stays safe. |

| I have been lucky ithat most of the fires are north of me but yesterday evening it was "snowing" ash at my house I live about 20 mile s from the1 and yes it is very scary because we are in the worst drought in like 100 years and then two days ago we started have high winds which were knocking down limbs from trees that were falling on power lines that started these fires. Stay safe guys/girls! |

| Indeed it is nerves on pins and needles, FBD. I just want to know NOW if my family will or will not have a home to go back to.
*on another note...
What the fuck FBD...we've been civil to eachother for weeks. Lol
@the1... I'm not sure how worried you are but I'd get a gameplan now and get everything ready that ya want to take. Having 15 minutes to do is not my idea of a good time |

| Good luck boys. Fires in Texas are tough to watch. I know that the wildland fire suppression specialists will place priority on saving structures first, containment second. I highly recommend to everyone to have a bug-out bag packed and plan in place with pre-placed drops and resupply cached. My wife pokes fun at me and tells me I'm paranoid. Like the old saying goes, "I may be paranoid, but I may be right." Regardless of the teasing if SHTF my wife knows which document folders to grab, which containters to grab, and my kids know what to do. I am sorry that you had to make the oh shit what is really important to me decisions Manic. At least you made the right one and grabbed R2. |

| Yeah...having to make those choices with a clock ticking more then blows.
So the wife just called and informed me the fire is maybe 2-3 miles away...crap...
...we are still juggling the idea of 'if it happens' if we are goind stay with her sis or get an extended stay hotel. If we do stay at the hotel that has wifi what are my options to keep my sanity with hooking up the PS3 to play with my Crew |
