| don't know what a apple tv is? i suggest you get on that level! i'll jailbreak your 2nd generation apple tv for a small fee! takes me about a day to do it, but trust me it's worth it! with a jailbroken ATV, you get a TON of movies (even movies currently in theaters), PPV sporting events, your favorite tv shows from episode #1 to it's series finale, live streaming tv, hulu, netflix, grooveshark, porn (if you like that stuff ) etc. all for FREE! all you need is a a tv with a hdmi slot and a speedy internet connection. right now, the 2nd gen ATV's are running about 140 - 200 bucks on ebay, but again it is worth it! i have cancelled cable all together and am saving almost 1200 bucks a year! hit me up for more information. again, this is for the jailbreak service only! i don't have any for sell, but if you get one and send it to me i'll get it back to you ASAP! |

| this is a Apple TV (ATV) here's a pic of the back. it has HDMI, internet connectivity (either wifi or hardwired) optical output for sound, and a micro USB port. here's what it does BEFORE jailbreaking it: Apple TV is a digital media receiver developed and sold by Apple Inc. It is a small form factor network appliance designed to play digital content originating from the iTunes Store, Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Flickr, iCloud, MLB.tv, NBA League Pass, NHL GameCenter or any Mac OS X or Windows computer running iTunes onto an enhanced-definition or high-definition widescreen television. AFTER jailbreak, it's a whole other ball game. you can stream movies, tv shows, music, everything you can think of right to your flat screen. put it like this: i watched dark knight rises, the avengers, latest spidey installment all at home in my den! picture quality good, sound quality great. when "the grey" came out, they had a screener copy of it on there for view. it was like watching it at the cinema! plus you can watch ANY tv show, first episode to last. i walked in yesterday and my wife was watching ALF! came in again, it was small wonder (fuck you i know i'm old!). but for shows like the shield, the sopranos, the wire, lost, sons of anarchy, mad men, breaking bad, justified, etc. you can watch it from the first episode all the way to its most recent one. we watch true blood now, but don't have HBO. within 15 minutes of it going off on HBO, i can get a live HD stream of that same episode. hell i watched both seasons of game of thrones on there in like a week! it is DEFINITELY worth it. as i said, they're about 150-200 bucks on ebay now. you can buy them already jailbroken, but they charge like 350-400 bucks for that. i'll do it for 20, just pay for postage. i just want gas money! like i said, i'm saving like 1200 bucks a year by running the base cable package and medium grade internet. for a demo of what it is, how it works, youtube search "xbmc atv2". |

easiest way to tell IMO is to look in the settings and see whether it plays in 720p or 1080p. if it's 720p then it's a second generation, 1080p is 3rd generation. if you've had yours for a couple of years, i'd say with about 99% confidence that it's a second generation. |

there's only one that i recommend using. if you wanna try on your own HAVE AT IT! it took me a day to figure it out but i finally figured it out. first thing to do is google search "seas0n pass". download that and then get started from there. hell if you screw up i can fix it. i had a lot of trial and error with mine, so i'm pretty good with them now. |

| Forgive me for resurrecting a dead thread but I need some info on Apple TVs. I have an Apple TV 2nd gen and I hate the fact that it can only buffer for about 15+ ish minutes. I heard the Apple TV 1st gen has 40gigs of hard disk? Does that mean I can save whatever it is I am trying to watch?
I would really like to find something I want to watch, start stream, pause, go to sleep and wake up and start watching the whole thing without interruption.

| Wow cool thread. I also have ATV but not sure which gen until I get home. What is your fee? Is it traceable? Do I need to send you the unit? | |

| I have a Pivox XIOS (media player like ATV, but runs Android OS) running XBMC It's good in that it's easier to 'jailbreak'. I mainly use it to watch downloaded torrents from my PC, though various apps let you stream shows/movies. Is ATV3 any closer to jailbreak? | |

| I just use universal media server... awesome (ps3 media server based) program that allows you to browse folders (which you choose in the settings) and play just about any media file on your xbox video app via your networked computer. If your xbox and your computer are both hardwired to your network you can play full resolution blu-ray files perfectly without any hiccups. Annnnnnd it's free lol | |

| Is this SW that lets you view xbox app video on your PC?
For watching video files (torrents) from PC on your TV, the media center in xbox is pretty good and reliable, but the xbox is not in our main room, it's confined to the basement.. but that's a good thing.

| Yes you can JB apple TV and it is pretty easy to do. Also Check this out... you can get one of the Plexapp's and stream it from the xbox. http://www.plexapp.com/ this service will help with the library. I am going to us Usenet because it is more reliable then torrents is but that runs about $25 ever three months or something. Still doing my homework on it but if i can get this done and only spend $150 a year for TV and not $100 a month for directv then hell yeah i am all for it. I will keep all of you posted on my setup. | |

| i use XBMC and USTVNOW.com for live tv. after that, hulu plus and all the other things that you can get for free just cut our cable bill from 200 (including internet) to about 70 a month. Check out xbmc at xbmc.org the repository bluecop will get you started right away with a very solid set. The best part of all of this is that you can use that POS old pc that you have in the closet to run it. if you don't have one of those, you can actually program a raspberry pi (30 bucks i think?) to run it.
As for Torrents, you just need to be using private trackers. do not use the open ones like piratebay.
