Taking the family to Disneyland next week

Like the title says the fam and I are going to Disneyland next week. I have been to Disneyworld 7 times but never with kids.

So does anyone have any advice for me specifically for Disneyland in CA? I know The1 posted about going to Disneyworld this week and a few of you had general tips for him (fast pass, umbrella strollers, etc)

General suggestions are appreciated as well but for those who have gone to Disneyland with kids please let me know any tips/advice.

Don't walk them past the cool rides like space mountain or the matterhorn if they aren't tall enough. breaks their little hearts that they can't go on them. Check online on the ride heights and check the kids before leaving. It will give you an idea of which rides you can and can't go on so you aren't walking them all over the park just to find out they can't go. My daughter was five when we went and she was little but could still ride the Matterhorn and by the end of the day we rented a stroller to push her in. Its a lot of walking for a 5-6 yr old by the end of the day. Depends on how many days you are staying there, but California Adventure which is part of Disneyland was pretty cool too.

Just keep telling yourself you are there for the kids... I went back in March and it was a blast however there were many a moment when I wanted to throttle someone. I chanted WOOOSSSSAAA out loud a couple of times. There is no rage quitting at Disney Savvy. lol

Biggest thing that saved us was the fast passes and planning. For sure have your top 5 rides/shows you want to do and plan around that. While you are waiting for the fast pass time there is always lots to do.

Never been to the DLand, but I'm sure the experience from DWorld applies. Stroller is a must. Comfortable sneakers for all. Don't do flip flops or sandals. I wanted to throttle my wife for wearing new sandals that instantly gave her blisters and she whined all day.

Good advice on the ride height. In fact, probably best to tell them up front if they will not be able to ride so you can avoid all the angst completely.

I found it useful to break up into teams...wife and daughter got thru all the princess and fairy crap and waited in lines for autographs while me and the boy rocked out on the good rides. We regrouped every hour or so and it made everyone happy.
