PostSubject: Trying New Things   Trying New Things Icon_minitimeTue Dec 20, 2011 11:09 am

I tried a few new things last night for the first time:

AK47. First prestige I picked one up and it bounced all over the place so I was afraid to use it. I just unlocked it and leveled it up to have Kick and Silencer and it is a GREAT gun. Very manageable recoil and good power at range. I plan on giving the FAD a workout tonight. One of these guns will likely be token worthy.

MK14. I don't think it's for me. Just can't get the hang of single shot ARs...truth be told, I suck with Burst weapons too. I could see it being useful for long distance engagements and camping, but when I came up against the enemy in a face-off, I would always get first hit marker then die.

M60. Gave it one quick game and it seems like a portable turret. I think a class with Blast Shield, Blind Eye, and Marksman would be solid here. Definitely a B Slave/tac insert users setup 'cause you ain't moving anywhere fast with that thing. Fun though.

I have yet to use The Mighty Shield of N8. Perhaps I'll roll it out tonight.

I think we all get into a rut trying to grind out levels and forget how much fun it is to discover fun new loadouts. Any other less-common, yet effective classes you guys run? Not talking about DOOM stuff, but actual useful +KD stuff?

I hate the AK irons... range and power are great though, but red dot and silencer a must which eliminates kick Crying or Very sad

Once I level it up to Attachments, I'll run red dot, silencer and see how it behaves. I wasn't hating on the irons though. Not as bad as the FAD irons...yuk.

I really enjoyed the M60 with red dot and rapid fire. It was very beastly. You have to gut through the early weapon levels becuase the irons suck terrible. Once you get rapid fire you can move (slowly) throughout the map mowing down folks with hip fire/steady aim. silencer seems to tame the recoil a bit, but I like the rapid fire better. I use the LMG for domination and play defender/block an aveneu of approach to funnel them the other way towards the clan.

I felt the same way about the AK when I first picked it up. Way too much recoil, but good damage. Def not mu go to gun, but still pretty decent.

Been trying to use the Striker, but I've found that I'm pretty bad with the shotties in this game. I always had a silenced Spas class in BO, but for some reason the shotguns don't like me in this game.

I try to mess around with other weapons, but always find myself going back to the MK14 and the MP7. I have been trying to mess around with the pistol secondaries more though. I'd like to have a tactical knife loadout just for kicks.

I was messing around with the snipers for awhile (love the MSR) but the MK14 is practically a sniper rifle.

I think it'd be cool to get a team of riot shields in a dom game. We could do a Spartan phalanx formation to each of the flags.

fatbrowndog, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the AK. If a quick trigger finger you lack, your AK set-up (kick + silencer) will always get the jump in face-to-face encounters provided that you have QuickDraw in your 2nd slot (once again, this sounds so wrong).

Regarding the MK14, I'd suggest that you thow a simple red dot on it, and practice shooting in, what we call in the military, "controlled pairs." Whether I'm using the MK14 or the RSASS, I always "squeeze" the trigger twice in rapid succession. More often than not, you will down your enemy before they even fire provided that you are using both weapons in their intended enviroments: Medium Long to Long Range maps. My reason for using both weapons is accuracy, because I've noticed with my other loadouts, which have either AK-47s or UMP45s, I was rarely on target after the first hit market. I've learned to shoot 3-5 round bursts, which we also practice in the military, but I often forget and hold onto the trigger while I traverse to follow the target. That is the main reason that my accuracy has fallen from 20% down to 17% during this prestige, but once I get my MK14 back, I hope to correct that.

I absolutely loved the AK in black ops. MW3 AK not so much. Recoil is horrendous, props to anyone that uses that beast on a daily occasion. And I cant use RDS to save my life literally. If I cant bear with the sights then I just cant use it. Maybe Ill try it with kick and a silencer and see how it goes but Im still loving my PPm90 and FMG9 combo.

I agree, in fact I would recommend everyone run MK14 for a week or so, it forces you to multi-tap the trigger. This discipline comes in handy with all full auto guns as it greatly reduces the natural kick and does wonders for mid to long range shots. It takes some practice but it’s a new skill that’s totally worth picking up.

My problem is that I hate staying out of the action and limiting engagement to mid-long range. I'll give it another shot. I need to level it up to make it worth using.

The mk14 is the only weapon I'll use the overkill perk with. Most maps have spots with long sight lines, and those are the spots I'll take out the mk14. It sucks balls in close quarter situations so I'll usually run with the p90 or any other smg when I find myself in tight spots.

Trust me FBD I’m the same way and I always end up run/gunning , but when you need it (spawn trap, bastard sniper, etc ) it’s a good skill to have. Nothing makes me laugh more than making a sniper miss me on my 1st shot and killing him with my second, well maybe a ninja defuse or a rage quit.

Level it up on HC, it’s usually 1 shot kill.

My favorite is the MK14. I shoot in pairs most of the time. With a decent connection - bang, bang their dead (I tend to do threes when silenced). With a laggy connection - bang, bang...bang, bang...bang, bang, bang bang - I'm dead. Rolling Eyes

I like Focus for a proficiency. It helps with closer range surprises. Without it, if I get hit I can't seem to connect with the fatal shot.

Overkill is a perk I almost never use...nee to remember this!

I run the overkill with MK14 and a P90. very helpful, plus with the p90 it is easy to get the secondary weapons kill to get overkill pro.

These guys who run MK14 with anything other than a Stinger are cowards. Just sayin' If you put rapid fire on it you can tap like a crazy person and outgun an AR... as long as you hit first.

Secumdum is clearly a stud with his 2 round bursts. I usually run 3-4 round bursts. 5 when the lag is lag tastic. That si when I switch back to the M4. Or BF3 which is a cooler game by the way.

With your sneak and peak ghosty playstyle I figured you woudl come to like this gun.

MK an other semi auto guns have made me much better with the AR. I think it helps with the lag issues since I am used to getting the reticle on target fast to get the kill.

If I learn to hit the trigger faster, I'll surely learn to like it. I fire that thing like the trigger is rusted shut.

I've found rapid fire makes a huge difference with the MK14. I can tap faster than the gun will fire without it, and it almost feels like it's jamming. This could be the case with you FBD.

I like to use RDS (plain reticle) with rapid fire and I've found I can even win some close quarter fights just hip firing.

Last night a splitter was owning me with this rig. He had steady aim as 3rd perk, probably helped alot.

Thanks dude, but no. On the RARE occasion when I have a good connection, it's so cool to get the two shot bang-bang kills. Most of the time I start with two shots and it degenerates into desperate spamming of the trigger to survive against some dancing, jumping, drop shotting slayer with akimbo FMG9s or a Striker. I try and keep the dream alive though.

I couldn't get a kill with the MK14 if the other guy was standing on a pile of TNT and had his back to me.

I like leveling up all the AR's and SMG's. Makes my kd fluctuate but its fun for me learning how to kill with different weapons. The shotguns and the riot shield are still mysteries to me. Lucky to have a .5 kd with these. Plus I always run a class with at least one perk I have not gone pro yet. At least one or both Blind eye and Assasin are on all but one of my classes.

well i have been using the G36C and its pretty good so far, still havent gotten used to the slower movement speed and i hate, hate, hate, not being able to strafe while ADS, so stalker is a must for me, have used marksman some and it seems pretty good on the long range maps

i think that if i slow down and use an AR it will improve my k/d but maybe just wishful thinking.

then as soon as i see someone with a shotgun, i whip mine out and start spraying as well. still need to work on this.

I only used the AK for a few rounds on the last prestige but if it's ike the AK from MW2 the recoil is mostly visual. I'll try it again on this prestige to see if it was like the MW2 AK. In MW2 if you kept the target dead center it was like a laser beam even though the gun on the screen was hopping all over the place. It was very weird to get used to but once you got it the gun was retarded good.
