| i have thinking about getting a new router because that can only be the problem for my connection problems, my belkin N+ router is only about 18 months old but my NAT is type 3, and strict
i have done all the tricks and nothing works, dmz, static IP, etc.
i have dsl internet, and was wondering what are some good routers to look at and what routers you all use that give you best performance.
any help will be appreciated |

| Many of us use the high end NetGear router, something like WNR3700, ( I think) I am not near mine right now. |

| I have a Linksys, not sure which model either. I've had open nat type 2 from the day I plugged it in. Still works like a champ, have it for a year or more. |

| I just bought the Netgear N300 Work and Play ADSL2 modem/rounter combo. I'm running wireless on 3 PCs, 2 PS3's, and an XBOX and open NAT on all with plug and play straight from the box.It will set it all up itself without hassles.Just my 2 cents. |

| do you think a new router may help even my sorry-ass DSL connection?

| I bought a high end router (Belkin N600 HD) and my connection was much worse than with the router supplied by my ISP. My friend is a bit of a whizz at this stuff but even he couldn't improve the speed so my 2 cents is that it basically boils down to how good your connection is and not so much your router. |

| I play on borrowed DSL. 1.25dn and .38 up. AT&T I think. I have 3 bars all the time unless there is a foreign or bad host then I get 2 bars. I am open and open. I put my PS# in DMZ and gave it a static IP address. | |

| Beckville, up until a few weeks ago, I was a sorry user of DSL. It was passable in most cases. Never 4 bars, and certainly never the host, but I could get by (unless Savvy was the host). I had Verizon's stock router with 2 down, <1 up. I set up the DMZ, static IP, etc. and my Nat type would fluctuate between Open and Moderate, but never Strict.
I just moved out of the stone ages and got cable service and currently use the Apple Airport Extreme. Seems to be working well. I figured since all my computers were Apple as well as my iPad, it would make the most sense. |

| I got 10 down, 3 up (best I could get). I think it's like $49 per month. |

| I hate to start a new thread because I'm sure this has been discussed. I have a great connection from the ISP (cable). I get 10 dn on the low end and usually upwards of 23 dn. I haven't done any of the DMZ stuff or otherwise YET. But before I do, I just wanted to ask a question. I've been studying the kill cams and it always seems as though I'm about a half second behind the other shooter. I'll be on target, load them up with hits and all of a sudden I'm dead. Granted, I suck at best, but there's been too many questionable hits or lack thereof. PS3 wired right to my cable modem. Feedback? |

the reason for this is the kill cam as well as theater mode are recorded on the hosts connection and you are actually lagging a little. If you record a match with video then play it back while watching it in theater it is like two different games. |
