Very Noob XBOX Question.....

ALright, first, please forgive me if this is in the wrong place. I am sure that someone will move it to the right place. Being very new to the Xbox, my question deals with the alerts that come up on my screen. It will say that Player X is looking for people to play MW3. Is this an invitation and what do I do with this alert? Apologizing now for my ignorance but would appreciate anyones help without getting flamed, too badly anyways Embarassed

No its generic, part of that beacon thing. If someone has it set to mw3, anytime you fire up mw3 it will flash that that person wants friends to play mw3, even if they are playing another game. It is a useless feature and I wish it could be disabled.

Does the alert look like a sunrise? If so it's "beacon" it's just meant as general notice i.e. "YellowGeehawd is online and would like other friends to play MW3" not an invite. If you get an invite it will show up as a message when you hit the Xbox button.

Wall, i'm waiting for wife to notice that the PVR I ordered really cost 600 dollars because so she won't notice the PS3 i hid. She's going to kill me.

the only way to make it stop is to turn off all notifications - xbox button - move right to the "settings" dashboard - then to notifications

once there you can either disable all notifications, only disable them while watching a video, or just remove the sound and keep the visual popup
