Yes sir, works just fine. I've had it for about 3 years now and the only times it has messed up all I had to do was just unplug it for a bit and start it back up.
Well, I paid $250 for mine 3 years ago. Right now you can get it for $170.
Here is the Elgato. It's a few bucks cheaper, but I've never used it before. Maybe somebody else on the forums can chime in on the Elgato.

I use a Hauppauge and if I were to buy a capture card right now I would get the Elgato as well. Like BD said, the HDMI is encrypted so you need a work around that. I use an HD Fury that I would not recommend because its freakin expensive and there are much cheaper options out there.

From what I've researched, when recording from the ps3 the elgato takes in component video through their special cable. If you use just this cable it will take in stereo audio that includes game audio but omits the chat audio. Im using the TB PX5's that dont have mixed chat+game audio output that some headsets have, just chat audio. So in my case, if you want to record the chat audio, I have to do either:
(A)the PX5's have a dedicated chat audio out on the headset thats available in a 2.5mm connector. The elgato has a voice over recording feature that takes the microphone input from the PC. I can run the chat audio output from the headset to the microphone input on my PC when recording.
(B)dump their special cable, use their component+stereo audio cable, use the ps3 component cable(already have one), take the game audio out and mix with the chat audio using an external mixer, then pipe back into the elgato component+stereo audio cable.
Ill try both and see which works best and let you know

Ive got an elgato also, but I only use xbox. It's an amazing little device, I haven't had any complaints at all with it. Well worth the money.

So how do I use my headset with the Elgato?

(A) will not work because it will put your wireless headset into wired mode once you plug anything into that port on the headset. I have been researching this also and what I am coming up with is your voice will have to be captured by your pc while recording. Like if you have mic out on your headset running that to the pc. For xbox this is easy as the way I do it now. I would use a 2.5 splitter where you plug in your xbox talk back cable and one cable to my controller and one cable to mic port on my computer. On PS3 this will work also as long as your headset is wired just eliminate the splitter and where the cable would go for your xbox run a 2.5 to 3.5 cable to your pc mic port.
If the elgato is anything like my Hauppauge there is a delay from what you are seeing on screen while playing to what is being displayed on the pc while recording. If that is the case a mixer is the way to go to keep your voice in sync with the video.

Thanks for the heads up missiler. Saves me some aggravation. I'll end up going with plan B then and mixing it. Elgato just arrived so I'll do some recordings tonight

Here is a video that I made a while back on how I hooked up my setup. Not everthing will be relevent for what you guys need but it may help understand how much of a bitch it is to capture all audios.
