PS 4 User Interface Revealed

Interesting. What happened to the play while it downloads thing? Isn't that supposed to be part of PS4?

Sony has said you'll be able to DL a game as you play it... but i believe it must first get to a certain point of "stuff DLd" for it to function.

What i get from the video is... we can select what portion of the games we want to DL first and then it starts DL'ing it.  It will then tell us when we can start playing it (maybe even say DL complete as the rest is just background DL info and will remain as such) with a message and we click as he does in the video and bam... we're there.  But... we'll see.

He was playing knack while killzone downloaded. The play as you download seems to be more campaign based and requires certain amounts of data to be downloaded. Also looking at that it seems it may have some sort of party chat feature maybe.

^^^Sony has actually said you CAN play a game as that very game DLs... VERRY cool stuff.

So while all games might not do this... we know Sony is trying!  And that's super cool.

And yes, Sony confirmed PS4 will use cross-game party chat just like in the Xbox 360... no details on participant limits etc. yet.

I'll be around buddy.  I'll be on the PS4 but ill be here on the forum at least lol.  And i'll eventually buy a One when the make that rumored "core" model without kinect or the TV features for less $$$.

So party chat is just voice messages back and forth to people on your friends list?  is it real time?  Or like an audio text message?

It's like it is on the 360... reall cross game chat where you can have say 10 (idk the party # limit) people in a "party" able to chat in and out of game.  But you can also use voice to send private messages like little voicemails.

Say you, Vidz, Winners and I are in a party chat on the PS4... you and vidz are in game playing Ghosts and i'm playing Destiny with Winners... we can all hear each other and are chatting about bullshit... then WInners and I leave Destiny and join your pregame lobby in Ghosts all while never leaving the "chat party".  Think of it like private conference calls.

So if you are playing S&D, you would still be able to talk to each other even after one person dies?  That's pretty sweet.

Funny you should mention... for specific game modes, at least on Xbox, it will not allow you to enter in party chat.  On xbox you can have a party all grouped up, but you then have to go and change your "chat channel" to game chat for your duration in S&D.  Afterwords, you can hit the Y button in menu and go back to private party chat.  In CoD party chat is awesome b/c it allows you private chat room... you dont hear any other players from the other team.  And if someone gets kicked, or wants in your group.. you simply hit "invite party to game" and it spams everyone in the party that isnt in your current game an invite to join your game. 

We'll have to see what options Sony includes... but i bet they'll have just about all the same ones as Xbox 360.

No doesn't work in S&D as you can't be in party chat to play S&D. The cool thing about party chat is you only hear the people in your party and they only hear you. Also you can talk to anyone in your partty and don't even have to be playing the same game.

Isn't that similar to Mute All But Party?  At lease on the PS3, it was started in BO2, but I can see the group chat only would have been good on BO or MW3.

No not at all because you can log in and b at the dashboard and jump into a party and see if people have room for one while they are in a game. You don't have to be in their lobby to talk to them.

wall, it really is a great feature that I hope PS4 emulates.  When I got the Xbox I no longer had to send messages to find out if someone had room in the party.  I could just jump into party chat and ask, or say hello or say FUSLAM and leave.  If you get kicked from a match you are still in party chat and just can rejoin.  I can join a party with other people all playing different games and we can chat and all decide to party up in 1 game.  It really is a great feature and has made the subscription worth it

Oh wow, that's pretty cool.  For sure the PS3 sending messages back and forth gets old after the 10th time.  lol

Haha!  I got hazed pretty good on the X side when I first jumped on and started sending messages to join parties lol
