Drop Zone

So i've been wanting to give this mode a good go, but never felt right bringing it up after joining a party because we tend to play dom and k/c, which is cool but starting to lose some of its shine to me.

So this is a call to those of you who don't place alot of value in stats (k/d WILL go down) and are looking to engage in some controlled chaos. I'll probably be looking to do this this weekend, so if you are interested, go ahead and put down what times you would be available so we can get a full group at the same time.

I do not expect there will be too much demand for this, but if we get 10-12 people who want to do this and can play at the same time, we can do it in a private match so no one's stats take a beatdown.

I enjoyed drop zone , but I won't be on for extended time for a while. Just have time for a gam e or two. If you have a coordinated team. Your stats whould be fine. Somebody def needs a stinger or two. Tac inerst and blast shield. Good to go!

I'm game. I won't be on till late Saturday night though.

So far it's looking like late saturday. I'm thinking i'll get blast shield pro tonight to make it worth the venture. Any other tips or strategies would be appreciated, since I've never really tried to think of any.

Any Drop Zone pros out there with pointers?

I've played a bit....here's what I have learned from others and experience:

*There are two ways to play...get in the zone and control it or stay on the outside and help pick off the enemy (somebody on your team has to go get in the zone though. If one person wants to stay on the outside, a thermal scope is recommended b/c lots of people use smoke grenades.

* I run into the zone...so I prefer a shotgun with high ammo.

* Recommended perk/equipment set-ups:
Blind Eye pro or SoH pro, some people use Ext Conditioning
Blast Shield pro or Assassin Pro
Steady Aim pro or at least one person with Sitrep pro (some crates dropped are the exploding ones)
Semtex grenades or C4
Trophy System or Smoke
2 people minimum should have Stingers

* I think it was Nate who suggested a Riot Shield and crouch. Helps absorb damage and protects you to hold the zone.

* You could use Recon Pro as well to help mark enemies for the rest of your team.

Can't think of anything else right now but sure I'll come across it when I play again.

I agree with oldschool -
Keep a class with a thermal scope. It is hard to see in or through the drop zone cloud, so the thermal scope helps soften the drop zone before you enter.

When you are in the drop zone, place a trophy system and have blast shield at the very least

I may be up for this... I suggest Tac Insert OR Trophy System for tactical slot. The rest is pretty situational as to what you're doing (Blast Shield versus Assassin.. etc).

god I hope I can get in on this....though I might want to finish my double XP hour on Domination...300 XP for a flag is pretty sweet plus the killstreaks... I just want to shoot pixel people and maybe get my hands on some sweet Assault streaks which I can never seem to earn

I'm gonna be ready to go around 11 eastern time, and I'll look for everyone on the thread when I get on.

I'll be running SMG + Stinger, c4 and scrambler, blind eye pro, blast shield (expect to get pro in the first hour) and probably marksman so i can see names from far off (don't expect many assassins on the other team).

It would be best if the people who are least effective in gunfights to handle the care packages but I really don't care how it happens...i'm just looking for the chaos.

Will do WREG. I'm gonna be headed to my PS3 right after I finish up my poker tournament, which is hopefully still a couple of hours away. Looking forward to doing this, as I'd love for there to be yet another game mode this clan can dominate in.

Can Overkill be done with the Riot Shield? I thought about putting that together with a shotgun or maybe an LMG, with blast shield and steady aim? And for nades...semtex or frags and trophy system? What do you guys think?

yeah, overkill + riot shield is not only possible, i can't actually use a riot shield without it.

I prefer Semtexes b/c I can chuck them into the DZ and they stick...I've had frags roll out the back side... I was just on a bit ago and matchmaking was shit for all modes. Very frustrating...I might try again later.

ended up postponing this until probably next week. Matchmaking has been terrible tonight and its storming like crazy here.

I was on today and didn't see Drop Zone in the community playlist...did they move it? Only thing there was Infected.

On Cod fourms the have been calling actitvision to have them bring it back. It is another iw fail.

They are alienating their community by the day. Their idea of DLC is to add a game type, and then remove it once a new once is added? Isn't that counter intuitive?
