This isn't the old PS3 interface and goes WAY beyond what XBL is currently doing

Looks very, very similar to the current xbox interface to me Nuke.
Actually, it looks nothing like the old PSN interface at all but does have a very xbox feel. Different layout, better looking imo but very similar. He was typing on the screen with his controller. You might not need to do that on the next xbox.
Nobody will know until they have both systems side by side and are playing them both regularly. I'm not saying that the One will have some really necessary feature that the PSN won't.....like currently exists with party chat.
But, there may be other things. I didn't understand the difference until I bought an xbox this last time around. I'm now fully aware of how in the dark you can be if you aren't getting first hand use on both systems.

Wow... a little brash there man haha.
That's your opinion regarding the interface - not fact.
You can't claim it as "superior"... esp not something like a GUI where there is so much personal preference/style/usage involved. Not much quantifiable we can compare between the two that would result in any “superior” verdict. Hell, my "opinion" of Xbox's 360 and One interfaces are that they force feed us advertisements and burry important information/options all while slowing things down with convoluted Xbox button menus that take 5 minutes to react to your choices. Again… this is opinion. (And a little fact in there)
Hell, Xbox 360s and Ones GUI are pretty much just Windows 8... and well… we know everyone hates that
My "personal opinion" is that, as show below, PS4's new interface and resulting community interactions are nicer than what the One is offering. It is allowing for quick, seamless means of communication and sharing while providing instant switching/saving/resuming from program to program. The PS4's GUI isn't "better" than the Xbox One's... it's just different.
To each their own buddy. I’m super pumped for PS4s interface… I personally think it looks amazing! I think people will love the Xbox ones’s as well.

What I find interesting is that the PS4 marketing campaign so far has felt like: "We don't do the things you hate about the Xbox One". I would really like to hear more on what the PS4 can do compared to the PS3. Why should someone upgrade from a PS3 to PS4, other than the objects on the screen look better? The only update I have heard for the PS4 is that PSN+ will no longer be free. The Xbox One was at least pushing new innovations to get 360 users to upgrade. I still play games on my PS2 because I never felt the need to upgrade to the PS3. The 360 was something different, so we originally got one for the kids and after awhile I had to have my own. My current systems aren't broken, so both Sony & Microsoft need to impress me enough to justify me spending the kind of money they want for either system.
The new marketing campaigns for both products should be interesting over the next few months.

We cant judge how much we will like the online systems until we are using them. All kind of Tech has came out in the past 10 years that looks cool but when you go to use it you find out it sux. This could be true for either or both systems. We will not know how user friendly they are until we have the controller in our hands and we spend a little time getting used to navigation. I think things like onscreen navigation and how useful little extras are would be impossible to compare at this point.

Indy... should check out some of the vids from their presentations of both console reveal and E3. They've shared quite a lot!
Hell, the two vids i posted up there show more about PS4 interface than anything M$ has shown. ALl they showed us was TV, movies sports. Above show some good info on how you can see live footage of what your friends listed friends are playin at any time... like an active in system twitch with messaging boards live on the window... moving away from gamertags (still have them but friends lists will be actual peoples names pictures n shit it looks like, if you want that) yada yada. Lot of info has been shared by PS.

I agree Indy.
This forum is filled with "I'm buying the PS4 because the xbox one sucks."
Wow.
You'll never sell me a system like that. I've experienced the last generation on both consoles so I speak from first hand knowledge of both. 1000's of hours on both the PSN and XBL. I also agree with Baller, nobody will know which has the smoother interface or the best features until you, yourself, have used both for hundreds of hours. It is a personal thing. A matter of opinion. Forming an opinion without firsthand experience in the matter is foolishness in my opinion.

Gun...The video you posted about the new interface shows the difference between Sony presenting a concept to the public versus Microsoft. Sony is talking about what the new PS4 interface will "DO" instead of "HOW" it will do it. In order to get all this new facebook/twitter-like status updates from friends and to be able to watch your friends games live, wouldn't that require a "Constant Internet Connection".
I'm not saying it is bad, I'm just saying it is interesting how they have presented it compared to Microsoft.

DRM is the same Indy.
MS made a call and said....hey, publishers....we tried to take the heat for ya and give the consumers a great deal with game sharing but now yall can just put it in the games like you planned for the PS3 on our system as well.....maybe next generation we can help everybody out with a game sharing type compromise for consumers/publishers.
So we'll get our DRM and if you want the features PS is yacking about....you'll be "always connected." Eventually alot of these same people will have the PS move eye thing hooked up to their always connected PS4.......because the DRM on the games make them come online to play them......ha ha
I gotta believe the publishers and Microsoft are feeling closer than ever these days.....common goals. Bodes well for content imo.

Huh… hold on. What does this even mean? Of course... you'll probably have to be connected online to check what your online friends are currently playing. Kind of impossible to do otherwise, and pointless any other way... no?
Weren't we just talking about user interface… GUI? And how not one is better… that they are opinions and likes etc. How did you turn this into the above? I'm confused.
Your post about how everyone bashes M$... when it seems you keep attacking man? I was just trying to share some info… there wasn’t any “PS4 better than M$” in my post… I stated fairly and with opinions.

I would have to disagree with this statement. If anything, most of the posts have been "I'm buying the PS4 because I don't like this about the XB1." I think that's legitimate if those people were contemplating getting the XB1 like I was. I have a specific reason why I won't be getting an XB1. MSFT lost a customer because of the way they chose to design their system. It's not to say it's bad, or a worse product, I just have a specific requirement and until that is met, I won't get the system.
Going forward, I'm intrigued to see what they will do to try to win me back, if anything.

There is a difference between MSFT's always on connection and the PS4. MSFT would force the user to be connected all the time to even play the games. PS4 users would optionally be tied to the internet. If they didn't want to be connected (or couldn't be, like if they were on a nuclear sub), they could still play their games they already bought. That's a huge difference.
I agree that almost all people that play online will be connected most (if not all) the time. My PS3 is always on the wireless network. However, I would be put off if I couldn't play a game just because my internet went out. Maybe reduce the functionality of updates and streaming and whatever, but I should at least be able to play the game that is on disc or downloaded to my HD.

Walldog --- I understand the "required" connection vs the always on connection with both systems. I just thought it was interesting how Sony presented the idea. The main thing is that Sony never mentioned a word about needing to be connected to the internet in order for all these game status updates to show up. They only showed you all the cool things that will happen when you are connected.
Had Microsoft presented the ideas of online family sharing, not needing to have a disc in the machine, automatic game updates, etc. then things may have gone a lot smoother for them. But by saying "oh by the way, you are also required to be connected every 24 hours to play games offline" they screwed up. They presented a negative instead of all the potential positives.
I'm curious where the gamer's photo comes from in the PS4 status updates that show up on the screen. Will you need the Playstation Eye in order to make this happen? To me, this is a potential "Oh by the way" statement that could cost users another $60 to make the system work like the commercial.
Currently I am not leaning PS4 or XBox One. I am going to wait until both systems are out to see if there are any other "Oh by the way's" out there from either system. It's the end of June and a lot can happen between now and when the systems actually hit the market.
It's good to see feedback on both systems, but it is way too early to determine which system will be better than the other.

I know it is tough to remember what the PS4's features were because it was 4 months ago and they showed how it would work in the reveal. I guess many people were confused because they didn't get to see a picture of the actual box. Anyway.....
I would have loved to hear them go into a lot more detail but.....Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

indy, you hit on the major mistake MS made. They told you what you had to do to use the console and the benefits weren't revealed until a week or 2 after their initial conference up through E3. It was a maasive PR/marketing fail that they are paying for today. TW, the gamer's photo's on PS4 come through Facebook integration if you want it to link it.

Indy, I've always maintained MSFT's main issue was a marketing issue. They just screwed up the message. A lot of the features WERE good and forward looking. Family sharing? Awesome! Play your games from anywhere? Great! There was a lot of potential there. Too bad their marketing dept couldn't tie their shoelaces, let alone market a product as complex as the XB1.

Indy said impossible to determine which system will be better than the other and I think that's what is fueling the hostility about it. Not indy just that people are looking at it that way. I don't think its a matter of 1 being better than the other I think its the one that's better for you. To quote a lame 80s TV show " what might be right for you might not be right for some cause it takes different strokes, it takes different strokes, it takes different stroke to move the world. Im not sure I got the lyrics right. XBox1 may do everything I want my system to do and then some but not do things gun is looking for. PS4 may do everything gun wants in his game machine but not do some of the things I want. it dosent make 1 good or bad just different. Its options, and options is the best thing we can have as consumers. Believe me if either system had a monopoly it would be bad for us.

It only isn't possible for non sony fanboys.
Sony fanboys can see the future where the PS4 interface is superior, Titanfall will suck ass, BF4 exclusive content means nothing because the maps will be shit......on and on.
They know how? I don't know how because I'm not in love with Sony so I don't get updates from Oracle of the Rising Sun regularly like they do.
Sucks for us not to privilege to using these things for months like Sony fanboys can and have.
You gotta believe em when they say "Halo 4 sucked" after they, themselves put 200 hours in Halo 4........they know things ya know....trust em.
