What is a good headset to buy for under $100. I was looking at the Turtle Beach Ear Force p11 or the PX21. Anyone have any of these? My bluetooth headset gives back a lot of feedback and back ground noise. I don't want to spend over $100
I absolutely agree with Savvy. I started with the Turtle Beach PX21s, they broke with a minor but awkward twist. Got the PS3 wireless and would not look at the Turtle Beach headsets again in this price range. The virtual surround is more than adequate to give you a good idea of where your enemy is coming from. You can control game vs chat volume so when you are playing with randoms you can turn the chat all the way off. Comfy and do a good job of cancelling out other noise around you. Charge lasts for several hours and they recharge fairly quickly. Again, I stress that I had the PX21's and this headset is superior in every way.

My PX21 are several years old and still going strong. Never had a problem.
I think it is a matter of personal preference.
I like my headset wired, just like my PS3 is wired.
Some have complained about the wireless mics being interferred with other wireless devices.
So it is different for different situations.
Hope you find something you like.

Last week I found a guy on criagslist selling Turtle Beach x41s for $100. I emailed him and offered him $50, 3 days later they are mine for $50.

I've had PX21's for 14 months and they're still rocking. They hiss a little when they're turned up, and much more so when you turn on the "enhanced stereo" (which works, yes, but hisses). The mic boom design is such that I can completely understand people snapping them off, but it shouldn't be a problem if you don't use it as a handle.
That's the worst of it. They sound great, the bass booms, the mic is clear (though may require a foamy wind screen for mouth breathers), and the 15' wire lets no interference through.

With the long cord I can go fix myself a sandwich while leaving them on my head.
For the money they are pretty good.
I only get the hissing sound when they are turned waaay up and I never do that because I need to hear the chat while playing. So I have the chat and ingame pretty close to mid range.
If I turned the volume up all the way I am sure I would be deaf after one night of play.

PX21 user here. They work great but are delicate.
You can't go wrong either way, just need to decide if you want a cord with infinite play time or cordless with the recharge penalty.
I think both sets have side-tone so you can hear yourself rage. That used to be one advantage of the PX21s.

So I broke my second set of PX21 yesterday. Both times, totally my own fault. The first set I broke when I tried to put them on with one hand. Snapped it at the joint where the left ear piece swivels with the part that goes over your head. After that broke, I used the packing tape solution as a temporary fix. Found out Bee had an extra set, so he sold it to me on the cheap and I've been using that for the last 6 months.
Last night, I was playing with the regular late night crew, I had to leave to get my oldest ready for bed. Stood up and the part that has the volume controls caught on the bottom of my chair and the left earpiece snapped off, just like the other one.
So, I'm in the market again unless I can find something cheap in CL. I think I'll go wireless this time and the Sony ones look like they are pretty sturdy.
$9.99 + $3.99 s/h = $14 shipped. Really, no excuses for anyone to not have a headset.

That's the one i use for PS3, it works well for game chat. I use my Trittons for xbox. I've been thinking about getting the PS3 wireless ones for when I'm at my kids house, the ex says the gun fire keeps her up at night.

I have the Turtle Beach PX5's. I was able to find them refurbished on ebay for around 120.

So the headset is really nice but my mic volume is way low. Bee and canis could barely hear me. Plus I think I'm getting some interference with the Wi-Fi since I sit so close to the PS3. I'm thinking of returning them.
So I started looking at other headsets and then decided to google Px21 Broken to see what would come up. Lo and behold...
Guess I'll give this a try next.

make sure your wireless router is NOT set to a hard channel and auto scans for the best channel
my x41's would pop quite often and that resolved it for me
