Is Elite Worth the Price?

I say its worth it since all the content drops will probably cost more in total buying the seperately then just buying Elite. However, from that point forward Elite is pretty much garbage. Here is an article on IGN that goes into detail about what BeachHead promised their Elite customers and what we are actually getting. And yes i did pay for Elite.

They overpromised and underdelivered on Elite.

That being said, from an economic standpoint, if you purchased it strictly for the savings on the DLC, it is a good investment. That is, if you plan on getting the DLC.

Thought I would snach up the DLC. Have not put game in for a month or more. I will not pre-order an IW product again.

BOII I hope will be as good last the last 3arc product. I will do a "Hardened" version of this so I can get the DLC price break.

I didn't buy elite and the reason is that I don't believe it to be worth the expense.

The major draw is the DLC at a discount plus early release. This sounds great on paper as long as you don't believe like I do.......I believe all CoD DLC is very much overrated and a rip off. What I mean is that a new CoD comes out every year (they have announced a new one for the fall again already). When they release the final maps for MW3 then it will be just weeks before they release a whole new CoD. At that point, MW3 gets tossed by everybody into the "last year" pile and nobody plays it anymore. So the last several maps get very little use in practice since they are only out a matter of weeks prior to everybody not playing the game anymore. Really there is no point in buying the last set of maps for any CoD game ever.

Then you have the playlists issues I've heard about. Most people do not have elite so they don't have the new maps on day one so you can't play them like you want since the Elite maps playlist is really small. This is just magnified on the PS3 side I bet.

The only way I'd think elite might be worth it is for xbox players who play every night religiously. If that isn't you then I don't see how it could be worth it. PS3 players should boycott the entire service on principal imo. Making PS3 Elite people wait a month after xbox players for map release is beyond stupid.

The best thing for all CoD games imo is to buy the first two map packs released (the old way) individually if you play a ton of CoD. The last two map packs don't get enough playtime prior to the next CoD release to ever be worth it imo.

For the record, I've only ever bought one CoD map pack and that was Rezurrection on BLOPS simply because it was zombies. To this day I don't feel it was worth the $15 as I have just as much fun playing Kino as I do any of those maps (I don't even like Moon at all). I have no plans to purchase any MW3 DLC as I have only put it in my console because of this clan tournament in the past month. I am excited about the next CoD though and I hope it is much more similar to BLOPS than it is to MW3.

Another issue with the DLC is making non-Premium people wait until way later to get the new maps. At this point, it doesn't seem to make sense for anyone to buy the stand-alone DLC. And so I rarely play the new maps anyways. All in all, in retrospect I wouldn't have purchased the Hardened Edition. Oh wait. I DID return mine after I activated Premium... oops! :p

Count me as another dissatisfied customer, while I like the new maps it is impossible to play them on the PS3 unless you run solo and where is the fun in that? I don't see any value in the stats provided by Elite. I liked BLOPS instant in game stats much better.

So the only real value is the map packs. I agree with FightingOkra that the last map pack is like throwing money away since you only have it, on the PS3 side at least, for a few weeks.

I know in the past guys have pointed out that if you divide your playing time by the purchase price we are getting a great value for our entertainment dollar, however, that is with the original maps. If you could track how much time you spend with the DLC maps you will undoubtedly see a much higher number...

Another reason elite sux!!! This is a series of posts in our clan forum on Elite. I was responding to Jager's post and trying to make a witty comment about having a cookie eating contest and they censored the word cookie. WTF? Is this what censorship has come to in America? I cannot type the word cookie? Really? Ok, in hind site my first mistake might have been trying to be witty!!! But really the word cookie?!?

On topic I can live with most of the elite let downs but the new maps not being in the regular rotation bums me out.

With the base maps being so crappy...I was thinking they were holding out the good stuff for the DLCs and made the leap to Elite for the maps, but that has not been the case so far. Although, I'm not that impressed with the new maps...I almost wish they'd do a DLC of MW2 maps....I do feel the price was worth it vs. buying individually.

As far as the other stuff "Connect, Compete, and Improve"...I feel I can get more info, etc. from other sites (particularly this one), but I had hoped it would be something better. All in all next time, if there is a next time...there will have to be more than to it than flashy ads and show reels before I plunk down my cash again.
