Report: Xbox chief leaving Microsoft for Zynga

Guess Don Mattrick didn't want to stick around and see how the XB1 would do.  I know these things don't happen all that quickly, so you have to assume he's been in talks with Zynga for a while, but the timing to me seems very odd. And of all the places to go, Zynga? Talk about a sinking ship!

Zynga is on a downfall on platforms like facebook because platforms like face book is on a down fall. EA and zynga are both trying to move in to be the top players in mobil apps. Sopposedly this is zynga's future. Plus they are a very cash heavy company so there could have been a big bonus. So with all the negativity around xbox1 he could have been on the fence and now don't want to stick around to face the results, especially if there was a big payday on the front end which zynga can afford.

I bet his boss at MS was absolutely giddy when he got the resignation letter.  "Your'e what?  Resigning?  Seriously?"

It's possible Microsoft fired him but allowed him to seek employment elsewhere and resign. Even though Im still getting the xbox 1 there is no denying that this has been a bad presentation and some of the things they have done does not appeal to the masses. As CEO of xbox Im not sure how much of that was his call and how much was deemed down from Microsoft but I am betting at the very least the presentation is on him.

Well... it was either Zynga, EA or Chick-Fil-A after that PR nightmare. Every big company needs a scapegoat hahaha.

What was his famous words that he said to the gaming world.....Stick with the 360 that right there did it...just saying

Well geez, maybe he IS smarter than the rest of us. This is what it took to "lure" him away from MS.

Zynga gives new CEO millions to leave Microsoft

$5 Million signing bonus and $40 Million in stock options. $1 Million annually + a $1 Million guaranteed bonus this year. Nice work if you can get it.

That explains it right there. $5M up front, tons of stock options (that, honestly, could be worthless depending on how Zynga performs) and a generous salary bonus. Walldoggy's right - nice work if you can get it.
