Recently one of my bandmates purchased a synthesizer and the duty of playing it has somehow fallen to me. I do ok, but I'm a guitarist at heart and I don't quite feel at home in front of those keys. So, does anyone have any pointers? Tips and tricks? Amazing techniques? Tonight is band night and I'd like to be fully awesome before they get here.

create the loops, then put them in the songs so you can go back to playing guitar. also some synthesizers are like boxes. when i think synthesizer i think like sp808 which is more like a sampler. you can hit a riff or something like that and kill it by layering them. Not sure if you can do that with one of the new korg keyboards, but its a possibility.
